Steelbook & Collecting FAQ's:

Q: Where can I find a list of Steelbooks released?

A: blu-raysteelbooks.com

Q: Can I play movies contained inside Steelbooks on my Blu-Ray Player?

A: It depends-Blu-Rays are coded with Region A, B or C. Most Blu-Rays are "unlocked", regardless of what region they are, but it's always a good idea to check this forum or web resources before buying, as some are "locked".

Q: What are the differences between Steelbooks™, Iron Packs™, Metal Paks™, Viva Metal Boxes, Tins, etc?

A: Check out pics and discussion in our forum here

Q: What does "G1" and "G2" mean when discussing Steelbooks?

A: "G1" (1st Generation) refers to a Blu-Ray in a DVD-sized case. And "G2" (2nd Generation) refers to a Blu-Ray in a Blu-Ray-sized case.

Q: How to fix a loose disc on a steelbook you want to keep factory sealed that came with a floater?

A: Fixing a loose disc

Q: How do I navigate international shopping sites?

A: You can download a free 'add on' for most browsers called 'Google Translate'. Once you have it installed, the pages will translate automatically.

Q: I have many more questions-is there a general list of links to help me learn about Steelbooks, protecting them, etc?

A: Yes, here

Guys and Gals I just want to warn anyone who has or is considering ordering Steelbooks™ from Boomerang.co.th. They are quietly jacking up the prices of their shipping in a typically Thai (devious) way. Not only are they charging stupid money for shipping but they keep raising the shipment units of all their Steelbooks™. When I ordered X-men First Class from them the shipment unit was 3 (180 Baht- $6 US) now it is 8 (480 Baht- $16US)
That is on top of their (ridiculous) shipping charges. Having lived in the Land Of (FAKE) Smiles for a number of years I know first hand how devious, manipulative and conniving many Thai people can be. This action merely cements my already VERY unfavourable view of many Thai people and Thai retailers in particular. Thai= MGB (Money Grabbing Bast@rds).

BEWARE

I'm not sure if other Thai retailers are doing this, so it may be worth checking your orders.

Hi im new to this forum.

I recently placed an order for the Lion king steelbook from Boomerang. im confused with all there shipping prices etc. Can you confirm how there customer service is like?? also im from UK are they import friendly like yesasia

Thanks

It's not, nor is the cheaper book edition ($54?) The Snow White was for pre-order only, so it cant be bought on the site no more as its sold out.

It was a limited Ed also at Amazon. See here.

As far as the Snow White Steelbook, it was an empty case avail with pre-order at Best Buy. Now you may pay anywhere from $40-60 or more (?) for it, I am guessing, though I have not researched this lately.

Hey there!

Ready to do my first international order from JBHi-fi.

Any of my fellow Canadians ordered from them in the past? if so, how was the packaging, and how much does it cost for let's say... a couple of steels?

Thanks in advance for the answer(s)! :D

Crazy idea for Ebay

Would the Ninja's on the board be interested in posting links of steels they are bidding on, so we all would not be bidding against each other. Or is this just a CRAZZZZZY idea?

Probably pretty crazy. ;) We've seen where posting a link here like that has only made it harder for a person to win.

1st time long time here (well, a lot longer than I've had this account registered)

What does a "sticker book" mean? I see this term used a lot when people are talking about pre-orders for steelbooks and how smaller, initial box art pictures don't look right. But no one actually explains what this means.

What is a regular steelbook and what is a stickerbook when compared to each other?

Thanks

Hello IOE,

SteelBooks are 'normal' or 'standard' and have the artwork printed directly onto the SteelBook.

Stickerbooks, OTOH, have the artwork printed onto stickers which are then adhered onto a blank, silver SteelBook. Stickerbooks have yet to come with any inside artwork, and are more affordable to manufacture.

Be very careful about ordering from boomerang.
Be aware that you will pay more for shipping than you did for the actual Steelbook.
As well as the shipping costs, which are horrendous by the way, even to Philippines. You must also pay a shipment unit fee, each unit is 60 baht and they have been bumping up the shipment units on Steelbooks even AFTER you have placed an order with them. For the average Steelbook that's about £10/$16. It's basically a "farang" tax, a hidden charge. If I were you I would cancel and source elsewhere if you can, or join one of the excellent Group Buys offered by the forums honourable folks here.

Also a word to the wise to all those folk looking to purchase Lion King and other Hong Kong Steelbook releases, Avoid Play Asia like the plague. When IM2 was released, many folks ordered from PA only to not receive their Steelbooks or they arrived late (mine was 7-8 weeks late) This means that it is too late to initiate a PayPal claim. If you contact them before your 45 days is up, they respond in a very threatening and uncooperative manner stating quite clearly that if you choose to initiate a PayPal claim they will cut off links to you. They were an absolute night mare.
Be Warned.......

Go to the help section and then email amazon with your order numbers and request that they combine orders. They will, no problem.
