Steelbook & Collecting FAQ's:

Q: Where can I find a list of Steelbooks released?

A: blu-raysteelbooks.com

Q: Can I play movies contained inside Steelbooks on my Blu-Ray Player?

A: It depends-Blu-Rays are coded with Region A, B or C. Most Blu-Rays are "unlocked", regardless of what region they are, but it's always a good idea to check this forum or web resources before buying, as some are "locked".

Q: What are the differences between Steelbooks™, Iron Packs™, Metal Paks™, Viva Metal Boxes, Tins, etc?

A: Check out pics and discussion in our forum here

Q: What does "G1" and "G2" mean when discussing Steelbooks?

A: "G1" (1st Generation) refers to a Blu-Ray in a DVD-sized case. And "G2" (2nd Generation) refers to a Blu-Ray in a Blu-Ray-sized case.

Q: How to fix a loose disc on a steelbook you want to keep factory sealed that came with a floater?

A: Fixing a loose disc

Q: How do I navigate international shopping sites?

A: You can download a free 'add on' for most browsers called 'Google Translate'. Once you have it installed, the pages will translate automatically.

Q: I have many more questions-is there a general list of links to help me learn about Steelbooks, protecting them, etc?

A: Yes, here

Where I live is fairly close to Heathrow and I see a wide variety of couriers. Some of them I have got to know quite well (as has my next door neighbour) as I also build computers for fun.

DHL is the interesting one for me as whilst the guy who might collect it from takes care of it, he then rendezvouses with another van and the exchange the lightweight stuff ie our sort of packages, so you have no idea how it is handled.

Thinking about the logistics of it, it would be interesting to see just how many people "touch" a package once it starts its journey from A to B.

I got Sucker Punch today, one that came from UPS was dented ... BAD! I got pics ... I think its Il Furiano's :( gotta see what WB can do for him ...

one of my spare one has a good bent inward... not a ding..but a bent on the back, making the edge move outward.

i'm telling you....pray if you have something coming from UPS bubble envelope.

2 people ordered one to my house. 1 @ $25 and 1 @ $60 the $60 one was from UPS and that was the result.

Urbeen-also 'copied' your post to this thread, so folks have an idea how 'some' of these packages are arriving. Thanks for posting!

Futureshop is up to something........

Am I the only one?!!!

I ordered Fast 5 from Futureshop and it was shipped Oct 1. It is now almost 2 weeks and I still don't have mine steelbook.

Same thing with Lion King shipped Oct 4 and still waiting.

Did they outsourced to India or China?

No-apparently Futureshop randomly uses "Letter Post" to ship some items, which can take 5-10 business days-which means you could be waiting until Oct 19 or so...

Difference between futureshops steelbooks versus other like versions

Sorry to change the subject, let me know if I should start a new thread, but is there any difference between Futureshops steelbooks as compared to other retailers' version of the same version, like Pirates? Just wondering if it is worth the extra expense for me. Cheers.

Depends on the release. Take the recent Disney Viva Metal Cases for example. The Future Shop version come with the discs in the metal packaging, whereas the Best Buy versions do not come with the discs (case only). Then there could be the possibility in the difference of size (G1 vs G2). Green Lantern was shared by both retailers, but Future Shop's version comes G2 while Best Buy's comes G1. If these differences don't bother you, then it it is obviously cheaper to buy these in America. Keep in mind though, Future Shop does get more steelbook releases than the US, but hopefully that will change soon.

Thanks. And why is that, as far as more steelbooks being released outside of the US? cheers.

Buying habits I guess. I read an article (can't remember where now) about the Japanese market for cd's/dvd's, and how the Japanese are willing to pay a premium on special edition releases. I think in the US, you see people shopping more for utility rather than luxury when it comes to movies. Scanavo (steelbook manufacturer) has the technology to make G1 steelbooks in America, and the overall preference leans towards G2 steelbooks. You could say that because the preference is towards G2 steelbooks, studios may not want to release G1's in America in the fear that they will not sell, which would lead to less steelbooks available. Well, that has been dis-proven as of late, as G1 steelbooks are selling out in America, but that could boil down to low print runs, so it gets tricky.

DHL was supposed to deliver my 3 Warner SteelBooks™ today but apparently the driver couldn't find my house and an "Incorrect Address" note was posted on my order.

So I called them and they're going to try again tomorrow. This was my first experience with DHL and I can't say it has been a good one.

With the hundreds of things I've ordered over the years, UPS, FedEX, and USPS has had no trouble finding my address.

So, I need an opinion from the experts: I have ordered Star Trek, transformers ROTF, TRansformers DOTM, Captain America, and the incredibles in one order from amazon.de. Now, it said it won't ship until late december but is it possible because things won't be sent until way after some release dates, they can sell them from under me? I'm assuming things won't be held until that date. Any thoughts?

I had the same thing with amazon.com a few month ago. I ordered 3 movies that were available and preordered one that will be released in Dezember. It said it would ship in Dezember. 7 Days later the three available ones arrived in Germany - so they split it up. Unfortunately I can´t tell you if it´s the same with Amazon.de.

Hey everyone, looking for a little help here.

Anyone has got returns experience with Hmv UK and Amazon FR?

Found a dent on my Thor steelbook and was wondering what is HMVs replacement/returns policy.

Also my friend ordered 2x Jackie Brown blu-rays from Amazon FR as according to picture they looked like a steelbook but Amazon have send keepcase editions.

Anyone knows what I can do to help myself and my friend?

Any help would be much appreciated
