I have hans, he's great. nice pick up.

I just got this guy ... the one on the right. My last "hook up" one for quite a while... as my Hastings is closing and this was my last turn in of blu's etc. for a gift card. After the gift card, delivery and taxes I got him for $21 ... he's much bigger in person. Awesome looking.

There's quiet a few experienced or seasoned collectors in here, I'm still fairly new. What is your interest? Avengers, IM, Video Game, Predator or Alien or maybe Star Wars? There's so much to choose from. As one member put it for me 'I'm like a kid in a candy store'. Once you find your niche, head on over to that sub forum and find a figure that you like and start asking questions. Hope this helps. :)

I know id not want the busts. I think I like the 1/6th figures. I'd prolly go for avengers members.

So is it hot toys? I read a lot of other brand names I didn't understand. What's the difference?

Thank you acidcore :)

For me the best part is that while 99% of my steels are hidden in racks these beauties are displayed and look bad ass since its art in a 3d form. I got 2 hurt locker steels in the background of my kitbash hurt locker figure. Looks so cool displayed together.

The detolf case from ikea is a GREAT starter display cabinet and only $64.99 is a steal for its quality. I started with Aldo Raine and then Hans Landa ... the rest was history .. they have insane detail. I started just putting them (1/6 scale figs aka usually 12" ) on top of my media rack ... and it went from there.

Now when you get your first Premium Format ... holy moly! PF's are usually like 18- 24 inches.

Kotobukiya dont have a lot that I like ... but I do like their quality on their statues for the price. Like $65-125

Another good point is that they rarely ever decrease in value unless your buying junk. :p So if you ever become not interested they are very easy to resell.

Hot Toys, Sideshow, and Enterbay are probably the best makers of 1/6 scale.

Sideshow is the official exclusive dealer for all things Hot Toys in the North America.

sideshowtoy.com they also offer what they call "Flex Pay" on many items ... so you pick a day of the month and how many payments u want to make ... (u can test this out on a product page) to make things easier on the pocket. Cause even if u choose one payment that is not "we take your money now" instead they take a deposit and then charge the rest when ready to ship ... which is really an unknown date since many times they delay products. If you are on flex pay and they delay they just delay your last payment is all. I like that better.

I'm into 1/6 scale Predators and my favorite is Hot Toys. Neca makes some good stuff but I don't quiet know how good the quality is. HERE is a search criteria for all things in the 1/6 scale range at Sideshow. At first I thought that they were just overpriced toy dolls/figures. I was way off. These things have a level of quality and down to the very finest minute details. See what you think. I can tell you this, once you get one, you'll be hooked for good. The nice thing is they increase in value quiet a bit the further away from being Sold Out.

Even when opened? Is eBay a good place to find a decent deal?

Yes even when opened as because of the high price they cost hardly anyone doesnt open them ... lot different then steels. Plus 99% are "adult owned" who are spending quite a bit so will take care of it ... not some movie that can get mandhandled by n00b consumers in stores etc.

Many of the statues and figures also end up telling you the edition size. Or, they are numbered. The premium formats are numbered individually.

Look at hawkeye for example ... cost $189

http://www.sideshowtoy.com/?page_id=4489&sku=901845

yet look at the completed listings on ebay

http://www.ebay.com/csc/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=hawkeye+1/6+scale&LH_Complete=1&rt=nc

Everyone of them sold for above cost ...

so if the item is from a popular license then yes it will retain its resell value. Get one in person and you'll be amazed. I'm usually awestruck thinking "how the hell can make it look this real?"

I bought my Guardian predator from there. It all depends on the exclusivity of the figure and if it's sold out or if it was a convention edition or an edition only sold in one country. Like for instance, I want to get the Elder Predator but I'd have to shell out close to $1000 for one and they originally sold for less than $200. So it all depends on what your willing to pay for one. They sell some that are still available for a little less than what you would pay at Sideshow. Make sure to try and get one that hasn't been opened and that all the extras are with it.

haha Wreck beat me to it again, must type faster next time. :hilarious:

I wont buy a figure for much more then cost ... plus the ones I like and miss out on ... typically are of licenses that will come back ... ie. If I miss out on an Avenger ... well then they will make more when their solo movie come out or Avengers 2 ...

I'm watching one on eBay. We shall see what happens

Thank you both very much for the crash course!

How come you guys don't ***** about them releasing a character again, like people do about steelbooks?

You are spot on.

That's how it was sold, one of them is regular and the other one is battle damaged.

Don't they usually just do a replacement head and hands for that?
