Plain Archive is excited to announce the release of I Saw The Devil Steelbook. We've been asked by Blue Kino, another Korean Blu-ray company to design the Steelbook edition which will be PLAIN ARCHIVE's exclusive.
We were hoping to release the world's first Steelbook edition of I Saw The Devil, but Zavvi announced its own before we could. The news made us reconsider the project, but with director Kim Jee-woon's support, we couldn't drop it.
I Saw The Devil Steelbook will be released under the approval of director Kim, and we are working on the artwork as we speak.

That's true of any release from any retailer. People had to get up at 6 in the morning for kimchi release. If you want it badly enough then you find a way.. I am totally against this trend of group buys for releases from retailers that you can order direct from.

But bear in mind that some people were still up from the previous day and they managed to miss it because of the shonky servers. By joining a GB, I'd assume the host will have made contact with the supplier beforehand and therefore a certain amount will be pre-pre-ordered?

100 copies going to a GB is better than 100 copies going to 1 person to flog on eBay, as that's the nature of this collectable market now.

I know, right? I have had this avatar forever, seeing as it's by far my favorite scene of one of my most favorite films - so the fact that that specific image is featured in the artwork of this release is pretty cool.

As far as the random mock-ups go, i'm still stuck on the original. They claim it's "supervised" by KJW himself, so i'm sure he approved the final artwork, as well. English titles make sense for English films. I firmly believe a Korean release for a Korean film shouldn't feature any English writing. Whether the vast majority of this SB will be purchased by North Americans & Europeans or not, the fact remains that this is a Korean release for a Korean film.

The sense of "entitlement" in regards to such things is a little disturbing. Doesn't anyone care about authenticity and originality anymore? I can understand frustration over English films receiving German or French steelbook treatments, and said steelbooks being plastered with horrendously translated titles, but...come'on, that's not at all the case, here.
