SP had more than 900, round the # up and out ...... and then you will know the true #. Now given the fact that many got some damaged ones ... that # subtracted the damage ones and who knows maybe we are back at 900 :p

Haha, I like your math. Lets hope that this 4000 is a real cap, and not just a cheap ploy to rip off buyers. I'm not crapping on all limited editions, some you can legitimately believe. For instance, the Resident Evil Quad steel can be definitley believed to have only 3000 copies (puts it on par with T2 Black in rarety). I've waited for 2 months, and not a single copy was for sale on ebay. I had to go to Amazon.de to purchase my 3, at $100 each no less. Theres just 1 on ebay now for $125, compared to 10 of these IM's. Does this ratio sound right? if one is 3000, and the other is 4000?

4k is min run, only exception to this rule is for a special circumstance. ie. comic-con for instance. The Asian steels at 1k is supposedly due to China having a huge piracy problem (which they do!) so they are allowing lower qty.

I would not believe that Res Evil Quad is 3k. Its most likely 4k.

Things that have been 2k etc. typically turn out to be stickerbooks. Stickerbooks can be of lesser MOQ run.

And these Play.com titles are 4k, and if that changes I will be the first to know, thus the HDN Community will know. I have a great relationship with them and they wouldnt lie to me. If they were in that game, (which they arent) then they would have never told me of the Terminator qty increase. I'm not accusing you of anything if it comes off that way, I'm just stating some info is all to clue people in. :)

Oh and welcome to the site. :)

Wreck,

Thanks for the info. Very illuminating.

This is off topic but is somewhat related to the discussion. Is HMV's Avengers less than 4K given that other countries are also issuing that. A wider question is whether steels such as MI4 are less than 4K per country since it is a worldwide issue. That would explain why MI4 went OOP so fast in the UK. I don't think it would have gone OOP so fast if it was a 4K issue.

Not sure if this title is over speculate, this is due to the fact that there are more comers in the steelbook arena recently ?

I will answer this last question, after that people can PM me regarding any other titles that arent on topic at hand.

Yes Countries can share runs but it typically has to be an identical steelbook. Not a whole lot of English printed MI4s out there ... Id have to ask Play. Examples of shared, Salt, Smurfs, etc. Also keep in mind its easier to sell 4k of a new release as you have a lot of consumers who will purchase the steelbook if its close in range vs. amaray and they may consumers who dont care to be a steel collector etc.

Thanks for the welcome. This is interesting what you've said. The only problem I have is in the ratios, they're just a bit off. If RE Quad is indeed 3000, and this IM is indeed 4000, then one should expect to see 1.25 IM's for every 1 RE Quad. But that is not the case. What is observable is that there is 10 IM's to every 1 RE Quad, that is a statistical anomaly. I only go by what I see, not by what is claimed. By all accounts, RE Quad is 3000, I've never seen it advertised as 4000. More importantly, it's extremely hard to find anywhere that is not Amazon.de.

Why should you see more of an item that has not yet released based on qty alone? You cant judge qty of supply based on what is on ebay.

I seriously doubt RE quad is 3k,(I guess I could confirm....) if one person is advertising it as 3k, then its because another retailer/etailer got 1k. There are very strict MOQs in place and while they make an exception here and there ... I see no special circumstance to prove why they would have allowed 3k for RE.

Almost seems you are a little too proud to own RE4 :p, I mean what are you trying to say? ... Maybe you dont see alot because all the people who wanted it ... bought it. Its pretty obvious what will be a more popular resell of an item. RE vs. Iron Man .... IM will win all day. REtrilogy from Korea even looks better and is 10x harder to find than the REquad ...

RE quad was available on another German site, I cant remember which one, but it was sold there and then resellers sold it on amazon.de ; I dont know the whole story on the title as I already own the individual steels so I wasnt initerested but perhaps these also appeared in some brick and mortar stores in Germany.

What I'm trying to say is strictly by the numbers. Personally I like the stainless steel look of the German trilogy over the Korean one anyday, but thats just me. I guess thats why I really like RE Quad, its also got that stainless steel look to it. Don't get me wrong, I think this IM looks great. Probably gonna get a couple myself, since the 2 FS versions I own are unopennable, that is unless you want to see $500 go down the drain. Even in pre release, I was waiting for RE on ebay, hoping I could get a few for $50-$60, never saw a 1. Had to go to amazon.de, and paid a hefty premium. I woulda been ecstatic to see 10 different sellers during pre release, like this IM.

Good points there.

But there could be other factors at play too. IM FS has reached a price level at which a number of collectors may feel that it is worthwhile selling their spare copies. That results in our seeing more IM FS for sale. On the other hand, RE Quad collectors may feel that today's price point is less than what it could potentially be worth. For that reason, they may not want to put it up for sale yet. In other words, the ratio of the number of items put up for sale at any one time do not necessarily correlate to the actual issue numbers.

Price and value is always a good question. The numbers (3,000 vs 4,000) only potentially tell us what is supplied to the market. Demand is almost invisible in that it is difficult to tell what is the demand for an item (although one can guess from the perceived take up rate) at any point in time. Both demand and supply ultimately decide the price.

The max play allow for pre orders - 5 copies for each title ;-)

Hi buddy with play it's 5 at a time, so you can only have 5 copies per order. But you can make as many orders of 5 as you want! But I would leave it a couple of hours per order, or ideally make one a day! Hope this helps :0)

Hi everyone. My first post and nice to be part of this community. This steelbook really looks to be most beatifull steelbooks i've ever seen. Really this looks much better than any of Marvel's steelbook. Thor comes close, but this really tops it.
