This will be guaranteed to sell out unfortunately given how much the price is everywhere else.

Will be £100+ steelbook easily.

Agree. They have been mysteriously acquiring stocks of OOP Steelbooks and selling them at inflated price.

Examples

Captain America
Cowboys and Aliens
Heat
Iron Man 1
Iron Man 2

No mystery mate. They are finding spare copies of these at Paramount. Think Luke at ES told a few people on here that.

As for Heat, was always mysterious why this sold out so quickly given all the other Warner UK whites, hence why they had so many of these.

If ever we needed proof that ES are nothing better than ebay scalpers, today's events should be proof enough.
There's a reason they grab the steelbook distribution rights and then only release 500 copies or so, it has precious little to do with testing the water , they know damn well how warm the water is . it has everything to do with screwing every last penny possible out of you as quickly as possible with a minimum outlay of finance up front.
I'm not feeling bitter about missing out in case you are wondering about the rant lol - I got this last year when it retailed at £ 10.99

Heat sold out first because stores like The Hut were practically giving it away for £ 6 - £ 8 just before Christmas when nobody wanted to touch it. Now it's out of stock , it's suddenly a must have for addicts.

I dont get it either, if they were ebay sellers charging those prices folks would be up in arms about scalpers and profiteering, but because they are a 'proper shop' its ok...It might not be a popular opinion but I agree, its professional scalping. So what if they have acquired some OOS steels from Paramount...thats no reason to charge ebay prices for them!

This is exactly what I feared when Play.com moved over to be a marketplace, its just turned into a glorified ebay for scalpers to sell things at inflated prices under the guise of a 'marketplace seller' (sounds so much more legit that 'ebayer' eh...)

We all know they are a commercial concern, out to maximise profits. So are every retailer. But would Amazon or Zavvi charge what they did. ES in my eyes are now glorified ebay sellers.

yes, they would if they actually knew/cared about its value.. but they cba to acquire such information due to the vast volume of their business, so they simply charge the RRP.. the only platform es has is play.com and they see the steelbook selling for a certain price and simply undercut it a little and assume it will sell

I understand why many people would be upset by the actions of The Entertainment Store. However, I also understand The Entertainment Store since. After all, they are a business, not a charity. They are there to sell and make money, while we are here to buy and pay them that money. As long as we are paying, they are selling. Simple. Look at how long it took to sell out: minutes. That tells me that the price was still alright for many collectors (potentially even scalpers). A few guys ended up being happy and the store pocketed some profit.

Personally, I do not own a single Iron Man steelbook. If the The ES shipped to Canada, I might have even considered buying it (actually both, IM1 and IM2). Though most likely by the time I would make a decision to purchase, it would be out of stock :hilarious: That's the usual for me. That simply means that others wanted it more

I don't really have an issue with the price these are being sold for by ES, it is cheaper than you can get them for on Ebay and also cheaper than other retailers on Play. This is not scalping it is purely supply and demand, if you don't wany to pay £52 for them then go somewhere else and pay more for them, or, have a look on this site as you may get it around the same price or grab one as part of a trade.....a lot of people must think it is a reasonable price as they sold out pretty quickly ;)
