@rj531, I'll give it a rewatch- it is sumptuous production design, and I dig Ewan.
But I do remember it feeling like a very long MTV video back in the day...hmmm..

I think it's just the light to showcase the nice debossing

I actually quite like the film itself. I'm a pretty big Baz Luhrmann fan though so I'm a bit biased. Bring on Romeo + Juliet Blufans.

I think everyone is gonna be revisiting these over the next few weeks to remember what they were like.
Who knows, maybe they have aged well. But my memory remembers them as very much catering to the MTV crowd, and Luhrmann using up every possible credit in his director's bank account alotted for swooping camera moves and hyperkinetic cutting.
