Can we get a sticky for this? :D

What do ya'll prefer to drink? Beer, Wine, Hard Liquor, Wine Coolers? All of them?

I only drink Beer and Hard Liquor. Mint Mojito is about the only thing close to a wine cooler I'll drink though LOL

So we have two microbreweries here in Halifax that sell thes bottles they call growlers. You lay down the deposit for the bottle them get them filled up for 8 bucks anytime after that. They basically hold 6 bottles. You get to choose what beer you want in em too. Anyone else have anything like that at thier local breweries?

That's how they do it in Mexico haha. Well sort of. You have to bring back the bottles if you don't want to get charged an extra fee when buying more beer. But that's at regular stores, not a micro brewery. No micro brewery near where I live though.

This is some yummy ****. Got the IPA today. They make it super hoppy. Funny story. I actually bought 2 of these bottles today and one of them fell over in my car on the way home and broke. My vehicle smells like a brewery hahaha.

Yeah most breweries have growlers. I have a few of them. There is one brewery here in michigan that does 1 gallon growlers haha. Make sure if you get them you drink it within a day or two.

I was at a local beer tasting last night with some friends from beeradvocate.com. Lots of delicious beer and food. I may have some pictures soon.

I really like BA. :scat: I need to become more active on there. I've got a small wish list because of them. Thankfully, my local beer shop has just about everything anyone could possibly want. If they don't have it, they can order it (as long as it is still in production).

im really getting into the seasonal brews. i was digging the oktoberfests last couple months, but now im trying the winter brews. my likes so far:

So my "brew haus" is almost done. I've converted a small section of the unfinished side of our basement to be my work area for my home brew set up. I moved a soaker sink we had in our basement bathroom to this area for cleaning my bottles and carboys, set up a nice shelf Diva found for me on Black Friday and a few other work area things in there. I'll post pics when I get it all cleaned up and finished.

To make this happen I had to replace all of the plumbing in the basement bathroom because they used the wrong kind of pipe and it was leaking really bad. The leaks caused mold and mildew on the drywall, so I replaced the drywall with the green board that the previous owners didn't use. So all I've got left is to move a table into the area and clean the floors. After all that, I'll be brewing my first batch of home brew sometime tomorrow.

Here you go, complete with a full carboy! I haven't gotten down there with a good camera yet, so cell phone pics will have to do.

Excellent. I see that you have a brew-partner there too. I generally have a couple around as well, here they are during a recent brew session.

The lab is not puking, she just finished yawning... they are both horribly lazy brew dogs, I get very little production out of them. They mostly stick around for some spent grains, they'd eat all 10-12 pounds if I let them.

looks good! Although you look a little short on 5 gallons in that carboy there!

You may want to grab a sharpie, measure out 5 gallons and mark a line. Only reason I suggest that is you use it to gauge your evaporation in the boil kettle so you learn what kind of humidity and evaporation rates you average. REALLY helps you pin down how much water to start with so you don't end up topping it off after the boil.

God I'm such a ******* nerd.

I marked all the way up to 5 gallons on the carboy. It looks a little short because I used a 6.5 gal carboy. When I got everything into the carboy, it hit the 5 gal mark easily. I added water right at the end of the boil.
