Release from January 6,2011:

"The most anticipated Blu-ray release ever -- the Star Wars Saga -- emerges from light speed this September 2011. For the first time, all six of George Lucas' epic films (Episodes I-VI) are united in one complete set. Fans worldwide are able to pre-order now with online retailers.

Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment will release Star Wars in three distinct sets to meet the needs of every Star Wars fan:

Star Wars: The Complete Saga on Blu-ray (9-disc Set includes all six films)
Star Wars: Prequel Blu-ray Trilogy (3-disc set includes Episodes I-III)
Star Wars: Original Blu-ray Trilogy (3-disc set includes Episodes IV-VI)
Star Wars: The Complete Saga on Blu-ray will feature all six live-action Star Wars feature films utilizing the highest possible picture and audio presentation, along with three additional discs and more than 30 hours of extensive special features including never-before-seen deleted and alternate scenes, an exploration of the exclusive Star Wars archives, and much more.

Star Wars: The Complete Saga on Blu-ray will be available for $139.99 US/$179.99 CAN and the Star Wars: Trilogy Sets for $69.99 US/89.99 CAN. Pricing for each set will vary by international territory.

Flanked by a legion of his finest Imperial stormtroopers, Darth Vader himself joined Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment President Mike Dunn at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) to announce the release, vowing "The forces of the Empire will be at your disposal to assure the success of this endeavor."

"The Star Wars Saga is the most anticipated Blu-ray collection since the launch of the high-def format," Dunn said. "The epic franchise pioneered sound and visual presentation in theaters and is perfectly suited to do it again in the home, with a viewing experience only possible with Blu-ray."

"With all six episodes available for the first time in one collection, this is a great way for families and home audiences to experience the complete Saga from start to finish," said Doug Yates, Vice President of Marketing, Online, Distribution, Lucasfilm Ltd. "And with the quality of high-definition, Blu-ray provides the most immersive home experience possible."

"The Star Wars franchise has been the most anticipated Blu-ray release by Amazon's customers," said Bill Carr, Vice President of Music and Video at Amazon.com. "We think that Star Wars will be incredibly popular with our customers, and we expect pre-orders to be very strong.""

Thanks Dave S @ TBS.

does anybody know if these sets are region free, i want to get the us/canada version cause the boxset design is far superior the english looks cheap and tacky. i was annoyed about the changes in the film, but i'm pi**ed off at the cheap packaging the uk gets, especially considering it'll cost more over here then in the us. to import the set from amazon.com works out at £54.69(including postage, which btw works out cheaper than the uk version at £69.99) so i want to know if i can import the set and if the discs will play on my uk ps3

YES it is region free

FYI, if you pre-ordered your set from Amazon when it originally was available you probably won't have the receive release date option. You can contact them and they'll change it. I got mine changed earlier today.

Got mine today, U.S. amazon, original trilogy (sorry kids, prequels don't exist to me). Crap cardboard sleeve over blu case in paper padded envelope from ****-sucking amazon (got my dented scarface steel from them earlier this week). I had to buy them because they are what the are...the original star wars on blu ray. I HATE, I repeat HATE, the new stuff added. I wish it was the cleaned up versions of the theatricals...but I'm sure I'll pay another $50 for those in a few years. George Lucas is a royal DB in my opinion, but he still has access to my wallet despite his moronic bastardization of his beloved franchises (added SW footage, SW prequels, Indy 4). Should have never sold my best buy tin of DVD theatricals, but at least I should have the best pic and sound quality for the stuff I do like now (which is 99.9%) of the movies. Hope everyone enjoys, gonna be a marathon of SW with my 5 year old this weekend. BTW, he will be raised not knowing the prequels exist until he discovers it on his own.

The original trilogy cover does have the best artwork for the sleeve. Enjoy, too bad Lucas has gone and done the very thing he opposed back in the 80s. Too bad.

lol nice. Yeah Im forcing my 9 year old for a marathon and I got the saga so the prequels will be seen. I was gonna just get the originals but then I saw the saga has 3 extra discs which I presumed was extras and stuff so I said screw it and got the saga.

I guess walmart is doing a midnight release party by me. Funny that we all got them in the mail...street dates must not be as solid as they are with vids. I still hope at some point we get touched up theatricals. I just hope there's no surprise like special bluray extras never be fore seen. I'm half expecting to watch Return of the Jedi and see Jar-Jar in the slave Leia pulling Jabba the Hutt while Boba Fett and Lando, in rubber helmet bounty hunter disguise, shoots craps off Han Solo in carbonite. Ok, enough ranting on this from me, just gonna enjoy it...

Been back and swapped over..... the staff spent 10 mins asking me if I was sure the disc was not there when I opened it

Eventually they swapped the set over, so now I do have the complete set.

Will watch some of this when I get home from work.

I still prefer the US packaging to the UK one though... Might get that in the future

Hmmm...did you receive it from this seller? That's WAY below regular cost, and distributor cost. Maybe "fell off a truck"? LOL..either way, thanks for posting! :scat:

I thought the same exact thing, he is selling it about 20 pounds less than retail, not to mention he already sold plenty of them.

Unless the said seller has just happened to come across an abandonded truck full of these I would have to say that this will be a bootleg copy.

I may be wrong, but something just does not add up. even selling them at £40 a piece is still cheap.

Also saying 150 sold........

I think whoever buys this may get burnt.
