As some of you may know Wal-Mart here in the states will be receiving these SteelBooks, which are exactly the same as the ones from Futureshop in Canada. Per another forum they mentioned that the release date is on this Tuesday (8/31/10). Each SteelBook™ is set to retail for $15 each which is pretty cheap for a SteelBook™.

Did I not read in one of the threads that WM was NOT into selling steelbooks due to shipping costs or something like that. Sounds like they have changed their tune. Maybe collectors like us do have some clout!

Went to walmart on my way home, they had a few of each left. But on the backs of degeneration you can feel a lot of damage through them. Like large indents, almost all of them were the same. But the package is perfect so I wonder if it was during production.

King-be sure to double check that the lumps are not the rubberized glue used to stick the paper to the SB-sometimes this seems like damage...

Ohh good point I didn't think of it. Man they must have been pretty heavy with the glue some were pretty lumpy. So much for Walmart conserving things. EEK!

So since Walmart is a stones throw away and I have horrible spending habits when it comes to Electronics and DVD's I decided at 15 each to run up and grab a set to share some pics with everyone here. Besides I have another sealed Future Shop set courtesy of BluRay Junkie =). Sorry if the quality is off had to take them with the iPhone since my camera is in a box somewhere. And as digitalbabe stated it was glue on the back causing the " damaged" feel many were talking about. Managed to get a pretty close to perfect set. There is one tiny ding on the very bottom of Apocalypse.

These are some beautiful steels. And at the price offered I think these will sell out fast and possibly rise in price over time.

Congrats King-and thanks for sharing the additional pics with members. I hope our USA stores will carry more Steels in the future!:)

Turns out they did have some copies at the super walmart closest to my home.

Got a set for a friend and myself, looked to be only about 4-5 of each except for Degeneration which was 4 only.

So has there been a consistent spot where they are putting these in the store? I went to mine and they were nowhere to be found.

Mine were in the DVD section as darczap stated. Other folks have found them with the new release blus.

My guess would be that a good general rule of thumb would be that if your store doesn't have a large selection of blus, they'll be mixed in.

If they do have a large selection, they'll be with the new release blus.

Mine were all the way at the end mixed in with random movies, not even Blu-Rays. I was expecting a special display (probably because I am a Steelbook nerd and expected one), but they may be anywhere, it seems. Take a look throughout the entire movie section-I almost missed them entirely.

I went back to the one closest to my work this afternoon and guess what was on display in the DVD section?

Looked to be about 11 copies of each title stocked. :rasta:

I got mine tonight at a not too close walmart and they had a ton. There were a couple with deep scratches so make sure to look them over. It was like they cut the box open too deep.

Maybe Wal-Mart is realizing the following Steelies have. (Fingers Crossed) can you imagine of they decided to do Iron Man 2 to compete with Targets Tin! I hope the Wal-Mart buyer is pursuing that!

Finally you got them, I would suggest you open them up and find out for sure that they are not dented. I went through a whole stores stock for Part 1 to get a mint copy and I managed to get one at the second store and one other copy with a super tiny ding on Part 1. So about 5 exchanges all together I think, I got one good set. I hope Wal-Mart doesn't do Steels that often, since they are a pain in the arse.

i have to go back today sometime and exchange the degeneration steel i bought last night. got it home and opened it and it had 2 nice scratches along the back bottom edge under the paper. the others i got were in good shape.
