What's going on here?

I initially posted to this thread last night on page 1, before any accusations about anyone's motivation. That will prove unfortunate when/if these trollers (obviously not everyone) find out what it actually took to bring this to life. A backlash to the first Ninja exclusive is repulsive, just hours after it is announced.

I also don't care for ninjas letting details leak out in this thread. Not very ninja-like to rule anything in or out.

I'm not implying that anyone has got rich through this, but as you can see from Wreck's earlier comment, the number of Ninja members has rocketed. The Steelbook itself is also overpriced in my opinion. As I say I have no issue with anyone trying to make money off the back of their own ideas, but I don't agree with the way this has been handled at all.

My main feeling is that the first HDN exclusive should've been saved for something really special, not this. I believe this has tarnished HDN at least for me anyway.

I hope this post can be appreciated for the points I have made and not be dismissed as a rant or anything of the kind.

We always were clear with the information up to this point. The Ninja subs thread has been available for all see for years now. If you read that thread we explicit list all the benefits. One of them being you get exclusive news. Was this not news? People were asking about it so people were told were the news was available.

Furthermore, if you go back and check some of the Blufans threads people were upset that "Ninjas" didn't have the first dibs to buy. So tell me how would you have handled this? It's clear that either way that we would of gone it would of been bad and someone would of been upset.

Again, none of the Staff ever said you needed to be a Ninja in order to purchase this Steelbook. Our memberships have not 'rocketed' either-we already had the majority of members who signed up over years and have enjoyed exclusive giveaways, 'coming soon' news, etc. And incidentally other sites have chosen to also offer premium memberships for similar reasons. Members get special access to buying and selling areas, and are part of 'in the know' forums within the site.

(I update the Ninjas myself and many were people who want to contribute to this friendly community).

Sorry, but it is far more complicated than simply releasing any title at will. There are numerous people and processes and a ton of costs involved at multiple levels. Our site has always been dedicated to working with our contacts to provide cool, exclusive news as we could and the majority of the time it has been appreciated by the very community that is trying to make collection and purchasing decisions. One cannot compare any other site's exclusives to ours, because they are entirely different markets and sales motives at work in different regions.

Today, there have been a number of posts that were flat out false info based on nothing but guesses. We have nor will we ever be a community that bans people for disagreeing, however, there is a level of mutual respect that needs to be part of any on or offline conversation and community. Accusations, slander and inciting posts are not welcomed at HDN.

We have always encouraged feedback via 100's of threads, which is then shared with appropriate parties (and studios and other professionals who visit our site have appreciated your candor). But without understanding exactly what goes into projects like these, several comments on here are simply rude and completely unsubstantiated.

When 'exclusive' news is shared for upcoming releases, everyone thinks the site is great (and we continue to be the most popular Steelbook site because of our willingness and ability to post many exclusives). Then when it comes time to give another 'heads up', fpr an actual title to be promoted by our site, after years of work, there is a bunch of bitter bettying going on. If you don't wish to purchase the Exclusive, simply don't buy it. If you have questions, contact us, don't make assumptions. And every business, big or small, has certain info that cannot be disclosed because of them being trade secrets, part of any outfit.

The small Staff and the numerous dedicated Sec Supervisors and contributors that are part of the HDN family are not paid salaries. The majority of people here have full time jobs and help the site grow out of their own pockets and spare time, aside from family and friends, and do this because we have a similar love of collectibles and movies. Creating 'atmosphere' is a top priority at HDN, because people should feel like they want to chat about their favorite hobbies, and none of us certainly want to be shut down if we disagree. But Please stop the negativity and rudeness in this thread. Contact one of us to talk, as we've always offered (try finding that at another site). Thanks again for your support and understanding, and most of all, all of your constructive and useful criticism that has been shared for studios and our site over the years. The members themselves have made the community what it is today, a few short years after its founding. Ninja chucks off to all of you! :ninja: :scat:

OMG!!, God I love Steelbooks, but this hobby is now becoming very addictive and quite expensive, I have purchased that many this year, that I am smuggling them in through the back door, with the hope that the missus doesn't find out. Brilliant news, a HDN Exclusive, can't wait, well done!!

I get mine sent to my work address:D

I can't believe some people are bashing this release. does it matter if this website makes a few thousand dollars of profit? You do realize that whenever you buy a steelbook, the retailer, movie studio, all makes profit right? Amazon and Zavvi aren't just releasing steelbooks out of the goodness of their heart

I actually want this website to make some profit. This website deserves it
