SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation (also known as SOCOM: Confrontation) is a third person tactical shooter video game developed by Slant Six Games and published exclusively by Sony Computer Entertainment for the PlayStation 3 video game console. The game was released on October 14, 2008 on the PlayStation Network and Blu-ray Disc in North America and will be released in 2009 in Europe.[2][4] The game is the fifth title in the SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs series and the first for the PlayStation 3. An online-only shooter in the same vein as Warhawk, Confrontation came packaged the same way as Warhawk, with the retail version coming packaged with the official PlayStation 3 Bluetooth headset or as a standalone game, and also released as a downloadable title from PlayStation Network.

Similar to previous games in the series, SOCOM: Confrontation focuses on online play and the global community. Also, the game will feature several playable special operations forces teams: the U.S.'s Navy SEALs, U.K.'s Special Air Service (SAS), Germany's Kommando Spezialkräfte (KSK), Spain's Unidad de Operaciones Especiales (UOE), and France's 1er Régiment Parachutiste d'Infanterie de Marine (1er RPIMa).

SOCOM: Bigger than Killzone 2 and Resistance 2

If you had to guess which online game has the biggest online user-base of the three games, Killzone 2, Resistance 2, or SOCOM Confrontation, which would you choose? Well in case you weren’t savvy enough to deduce the correct answer from the above title, unless you guessed SOCOM, you guessed SOWRONG! All this according to Mark Rogers, senior producer of SCEA, who announces that SOCOM has the most simultaneous online connections, and who attributes this acheivement to the community’s devotion to the online only shooter.

If that wasn’t good enough news for SOCOM devotee’s, Rogers also announces that the highly anticipated 1.6 patch, which includes four new weapons and a two new special forces to play as, will be released in the near future. So give yourself a big pat on the back SOCOM players, becuase your persistence and commitment has raised SOCOM to the highest echelon of online PS3 gaming. Now that’s dedication, holmes!

Wow new trophies ... hope they are easy LOL ... get my % up.

In any case, this will definitely breathe more life into my Socom as these add ons sound totally awesome. I think they are kinda sticking it tous withe the $14.99 price tag though. I mean, they know most people will move on or have moved esp with CODMW2 so its kinda like keeping a high price just to stick the loyal guys.

9.99 woulda been more appropriate given all the bugs, lag, etc. the core Socom players had to endure.

Could you imagine if they woulda released this game at like xmas this year .... it woulda been more refined and gone over alot better.

$15 is overkill i already paid $60 and it was broken to begin with.. we should get it for free....

You paid $60 for the mic and the game....they should of fixed alot of things fast but they didn't.

It should of been $9.99 not $15 bucks. Free is out of the question for what they are adding.

I will pay for it but agree it should of been free reason being

1,slant six gave us a broken game to begin with
2,they said we will get DLC every 3 months did they do that no
3,even when we get the new DLC everyone knows slant six with mess it up with most of the maps having glitches which will take them months to fix

sorry, but i wont pay this, as much as i love this game and love playing with blu clan.

i only paid $20 for this game, wont pay almost that for add on content.

plus, ill be playing U2 online until MW2 comes out then nothing but that. sorry slant 6, you lose.

when does the next socom game come out? q4 2010? i can easily wait and save my $15 for that....

Cold Front Maps and all the extras are off the hook! This is how this game shoulda been since day one! I wish you could join session from PSN tho like CODMW2 ... then itd be easier linking up.

Although the amount of stuff is worth the $10-15 this damn thing should've been $5 for all the setbacks they put us through ... cause I will never jump on a release date game by Slant Six in the future with out renting first or waiting for internet feedback.

yah. as much as i would love to play with you guys (like last night i saw y'all playing), i won't pay $10 for this.

im not gonna support a game that had little to no support with how many problems since day one anymore than i have.

on top of that, MW2 is keeping me happy with my online game play.

very bad timing for S6

so i found out one of my friends who game shares with me downloaded this over the holidays.

so im downloading it right now. next time i see you guys on ill be able to join!

I saw a mini ad on my ps3 xbar saying there is a gold AK you can get in Home for Socom.

yup u have to assemble and reassemble a ak47 in under 12 seconds to get it

hey man I just did it! But in 56 seconds lol .... but guess what, I dont think you have to do it in that time period, I think u gotta collect all 7 peices and then u get it. Cause I was walkign around in the socom area and this dude had "Stand here" written on his head so I went there and walah ... it said "You have just found 1 of 7 pieces of the AK"

Pretty cool. I just wanted to check all this out ... I was suprised that HOME has gotten alot cooler.

---------- Post added at 01:30 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:08 AM ----------

Peeps in there say its not 12 seconds its 30 seconds. i also found 3 of 7 real quick... So maybe once you find those its quicker to assemble. Also, they say if you beat the other game five finger fillet then you can get the map pack for free. Just thought i throw that out there for folks.

There was a shitload of peeps standing around the golden ak assembly table compared to the other ak tables and so I never got a turn on that one since I didnt want to wait. Figured you need your 7 peices first anyways.
