I hope it's not a 1:1 re-release... because I hate this re-releases which decreases the value of the first release...

Imagine Iron Man FS would be 1:1 re-released and you paid a week before 600€ to get a sealed copy of the first release - omg... EEK!

The blue blu-ray banner in play.com version compliments against the white making it stand out very nicely.

Yeah I get that, but it is quite a dated look now. Most modern steels go for the clean look, without any banner, which I think generally looks far better (e.g. Skyfall)

That's why I think leaving the banner off the new one would be both a worthwhile update and an immediate visual cue to help differentiate between the two releases.

If this one is a gloss finish with no blue banner then I'll get rid of my Play copy and keep this one. I don't much care for how much each is worth, I'll just be happy to keep whichever one looks best to me. Losing that dated-looking banner would be a welcome change.

I didn't get the Play version, but one without the blue banner would do me very nicely.

If all steelbooks had them then fine, but they don't. Not a single one of mine has it and I'm very happy with that. I'd personally like to keep it that way,

What are the odds that this is region b locked? I know it says on the Zavvi website it's region b but I noticed other steels on Zavvi say their region b but are actually region free.

So wait, the re-release only has one disc? Then I'll stick with my german Star Trek steelbook. Only interested in this steelbook because of the extra content. Or do you guys think they'll include that in the re-release?

Wreck from the other thread:

In any case, its not 3 disc, its not gonna be heavy gauge steel like the old quality titles. And we'll see about gloss. Probably not heavy gloss like the old.

I never really bother with the extras on films, but this one is great. Genuinely interesting deleted scenes and good documentary.

The German release was poor. I really didnt like the silver finish. I thought it was white.

I do love the actual film. Not a Trekkie at all

It states 1 disc in Zavvi's product details, but it also states Dolby Digital sound, so I wouldn't take too much notice of this. Let's wait and see.

If it is only a 1 disc release, I have a 3 disc insert that I can put into it, along with my 3 discs from my amaray version.

EDIT: Sorry, I hadn't read Wreck's earlier post, as I originally posted in another thread....1-Disc then.

I hope they get rid of that ugly blu-ray banner... It ruins the artwork.

I'd say: blame yourself for spending that kind of money on a steelbook! :hilarious: ;)

Almost, if not all of Paramount's steelbook releases have been 1 disc when the Blu-ray had been released already in an amaray as a 2 disc so this'll be no different.

Iron Man, Iron Man 2 and Watchmen for example had already had better versions. Besides, rereleases or not, the inclusion of a DVD in a steelbook or even an amaray is quickly dissapearing which I don't like personally. I have use of DVD copies as I only have the one Blu-ray player.

This is a friendly and open community, this ain't Blu-ray.com

Id say that's debateable by a few post in this thread.......:(

ON TOPIC I have 2 pending charges from zavvi for. 02 each..... I should not be worried about anything right? I only placed a order for 1 of the star trek steelbooks.
-thanks in advance to anyone who can reply

nothing to worry about its just checking your card it will be refunded,

i can imagine this having a big impact on the original title which is quite sort after,it seems to be happening alot just lately...i havent been collecting long and dont really have the funds to chase the "one to have titles" so reprints like this are good for me but i don't feel there good for the steelbook communtiy as a whole, the way it's going there will be no rare steelbooks left....

It might have an effect on the price of the original if it was completely identical in all ways i.e. same number of discs, identical artwork, same quality of steel etc etc (like the German Underworld Trilogy steelbook for example where the only difference in the reprint is a slight change to the cellophane)

But it's not an identical copy (although the artwork may be the same) it's a cheaper poorer relation to the original.

I don't have the original as it came out before I got back into steelbook collecting after my DVD steelbook days so I will get this instead of paying the over-inflated prices for the original
