I didn't think there was much doubt when the triple pack was announced that the main point of difference was the lowish matching numbers for the set rather than random numbers on the individuals.

For me the aim was always to get all 3 to have the complete set, so to get matching numbers was a bonus and with a bit of a $ saving too. And I reckon they all look great so very happy with my choice to grab the set :)

I have no hesitation in supporting certain retailers and forums who are putting in the effort to bring us cool exclusives and the likes of BF, ES, kimchi, HDN and HD Zeta will continue to get my vote if they keep doing what they are doing. Mix in a few other sexy steels from around the globe every once in a while and I reckon it's a great recipe for a tasty collection ;)

Am I right in saying the only difference between the tri-pack GB and the individual GB is that the tri-pack will be numbered the same?!?!

That seems to be the only difference.i thought with all the suspense about this big secrecy with this tri-pack having this ground breaking design...come to find out,you can end up getting this tri-design by purchasing them individually.i know its going to cost more but i thought the only way you'd be able to get this "spine design" was thru ordering the tri-pack.so it isn't exclusive at all.kind of skimped on the design.
unlike "OZ" which has exclusive designs depending on what you ordered.

P.S.
I don't think collectors will be bothered too much if the numbers aren't all the same since the design will still line up perfectly.

Its unlike all of Blufans previous releases in that it is a really freakin' lazy effort on their part. I can understand those who don't already have these steelbooks being mildly excited about them but the collectors that are reacting like they are the best things since sliced toast really has me scratching my head. So what if the slip covers are a low production run if the steebooks inside are out there in massive quantities? Kinda kills the low production run thing for me.

Blufans has raised the bar in the past and I just expect more out of them is all.

Fair enough, maybe they won't be. But for those like me who are bothered we will have matching numbers, the spines will line up perfectly and we saved some money over those that bought individually. That is a good thing in my book.

It's not unlike all BF previous releases. Some of those in the past have also been cool full slips over mass produced steels and they were snapped up in no time by collectors too.

People shouldn't worry so much about why someone else might want to collect in a certain way and concentrate on enjoying what they do instead. We are all here for similar reasons but it's nice to know people appreciate different things. Doesn't always have to make sense to be right

^ knock off 2 posts for that comment.

I never thought I'd need to say, "Michael Bay needs to try harder."

Now this is what steelbook collecting is all about. In this day in age when steelbooks are superfluous, even limited quantities aren't enough to make steelbooks stand out. This is obviously limited and not the only Star Trek Into Darkness steelbook out there. What Star Trek ID steel though has slip covers let alone that match when placed together? None and while these are expensive they are worth the price.
