Star Wars Marathons, Tickets Sales and Movie Theater Exclusives All Announced
http://www.slashfilm.com/details-on-star-wars-marathons-tickets-and-trailer-revealed/
The official poster for Star Wars: The Force Awakens just hit this morning, and along with it comes confirmation of several things we had been hearing about last week.

Tickets are going on sale tomorrow immediately after the new trailer premieres. In addition, marathons at several theater chains have been confirmed along with the announcement of certain chains having collectible exclusives for fans to get their hands on.

Ticket Sales and Theater Chain Exclusives
First of all, tickets will be going on sale tomorrow after the debut of the trailer, so make sure you figure out where you want to see the movie. And part of figuring out where you want to see the movie may be determining which exclusive collectibles you want from certain theater chains that will be handing them out. Here’s everything you need to know on that front from Star Wars.com:

Regal Cinemas
Star Wars Saturdays: Each Saturday, from December 19 to January 9, at Regal theatres the first 500 guests who experience Star Wars: The Force Awakens in IMAX will receive a collectable ticket featuring unique Star Wars: The Force Awakens art. New art will be revealed each week.

AMC Theatres
Star Wars Sundays: Each Sunday, from December 20 to January 10, guests who purchase a ticket to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens in IMAX 3D will receive an AMC-exclusive Star Wars print from artist Dan Mumford. A new poster will be revealed each week.

Also, join the celebration at Walt Disney World as AMC Theatres and Disney Parks celebrate the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The Opening Night Event will take place on December 17, where participants will be among the first to see the new film at AMC Disney Springs 24 and then celebrate together at a private after-hours party at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Tickets are available online only at AMCtheatres.com/StarWarsWDW

Cinemark
Cinemark is giving fans the opportunity to receive a pair of exclusive RealD 3D Star Wars glasses. There are three ways guests can get these collectable glasses: By attending the Star Wars Marathon Event on December 17. By attending the first show of Star Wars: The Force Awakens Thursday 12/17 in Cinemark XD, or with the purchase of a Star Warsconcession combo, coming in November.

Alamo Drafthouse
As part of the advanced ticketing promotion at participating Alamo Drafthouse locations, you can snag two exclusive, limited Star Wars: The Force Awakens collectible items: an officially licensed Mondo-designed pint glass and the first ever, double-sized collector’s issue of their very own magazine, BIRTH. MOVIES. DEATH., celebrating 40 years of the Star Warssaga!

Fandango
On Fandango, Star Wars: The Force Awakens ticket buyers will be automatically entered into a sweepstakes for the chance to win a trip to the film’s world premiere. Moviegoers who purchase tickets within the first 24 hours can increase their chances to win. Additionally, ten runners-up can win a collectible “Dark Side” or “Light Side” prize pack.

Star Wars Marathons

But the big news is the event Star Wars fans have been hoping for has been confirmed as well. There will be a Star Wars marathon event playing at select theaters on December 17th that will play all six of the previous Star Wars movies in2D, starting with The Phantom Menace, and concluding with the opening of Star Wars: The Force Awakens in 3D. Attendees will get a lanyard with exclusive marathon art.

No time was announced, but previously we heard the marathon would start at 4am on December 17th and lead into the 7pm debut of The Force Awakens. More than likely the marathon event tickets will be on sale at the same time as The Force Awakens tickets, but we’ll find out for sure tomorrow.

The official poster is awesome,
I seriously cannot wait for this film, I have 100% faith in JJ for this film and I think that comes from what he did with the first Star Trek (and im seriously not a trek fan)
I feel like a kid again.

@luke98 that is hilarious
I read somewhere JJ was going to put a gungan skeleton in the dessert lol I hope he does.

Can't wait for the trailer in the next 24 hours

Yeah I read that a while ago and I just got so excited lol
If he can do that to Star Trek imagine what he can do to something he genuinely loves.
The clips and trailers so far point towards a big thumbs up, obvioulsy anything can happen but I do think this will be epic.

The big question ...... does anyone think it will do bigger numbers than JP? "This year" .... I'm gonna say no. I think it will come in 2nd for this year. Maybe if counting some 2016 showings it might beat it ... but my guess is you got a lot of general public "non movie goers" who dont like Star Wars but are willing to check out a dinosaur film as over the years they seen JP and liked it.

But you got rabid SW fans who will go see this more than once in theater. It'll be interesting for sure!

As a Star Trek fan since 1969 I loathe those recent films They are simply not Star Trek to me but lazy film making of the highest order. They totally miss 100% what Star Trek was about. I pretty much hate anything JJ has done to date and simply have no faith in the forthcoming Star Wars film. Apart from Star Wars and the Empires Strikes Back, I've hated the rest of the Star Wars films. I find JJ a one trick pony with no imagination whatsoever. He rips off other peoples ideas very very badly. Hitchcock or Speilberg he is not.
Rant over.....

@Wreck good question, i think it will be a close one but i think Star Wars may just overtake it.
I know a lot of people did see multiple screenings of JW but SW has too many die hard fans and I think that will help plus them seeing multiple screenings (I only see films once at the cinema and only in my life I've seen a film twice - first was the ring lol went with my mates and then I took a chic on a date to see it (her choice) and 2nd was the dark knight, again with my mates and then with my girlfriend at the time - but that was different as I couldn't believe how good that film was and instantly went mad over the joker (that year I went to a fancy dress party as the hospital scene joker and went all out lol)

Fair dos, I always found the tv series and old films really cheesey and thought the newer ones were just more serious and more on my level. Only thing I liked about the old tv series was rap sync! Me and a few mates every so often would watch it with rap on in the background and it used to sometimes sync with their lips, was hilarious (mainly jay z for some reason but we were also a bit high, so that helped)

I'm actually a fan of his, i love lost (although it grinds me at times), I thought mission impossible 3 was the best and on par if not better than the first (not seen the new one yet, loved super 8 (Elle fanning was phenomenal) and other things he's been involved in like clover field. Love the first Star Trek and can handle the 2nd although it wasn't great. So yeah I'm a fan but i know a lot of people who hate him.
Also you need to remember he's loves Spielberg and kinda got shown the ropes by him (even worked for him before he became a director) so allot of Spielberg has rubbed of on him but I think he also has his own style but that's just my opinion.
If I was a director id be getting grief for my films being like Spielberg, fincher, Tarantino and wes Anderson because they are my favourites and I know I would make films like theirs lol (maybe not their ideas but definatley their styles)
