Wow they look good together. Just send the 2D gandalf back, if u can afford the other 3.

R they glossy or matte??

All glossy, the gold banner doesnt even bother me when you have them in hand cos its beautifully made. What i dont understand is why they didnt use Thorin for the 2d cover instead of gandalf again.

Ya only reason i am contemplating keeping gandalf 2d is cos its a set and i dont want it left incomplete. But i keep rethinking this...everyone seems to just want the gollum and gandalf 3d, but they ARE fabulous together.

Exactly!! It'd have made this set PERFECT had they used Thorin for the 2d cover instead of using the same picture of Gandalf TWICE.

Maybe they're just saving Thorin for the EE version??:D

I think the French lenticular is the winner here plus the fact that the steel has a glossy finish is excellent. Defiantly better than the MM one..
After cancelling this and the Gollum one I think I will have to re order now. Well done France !!

Couldn't agree more mate. I held back to see how they all looked and this is the nicest IMO. I haven't even got a 3D tv. Love the disc art to, think the black and white go with the inside art

I would have to say that both of you are echoing my sentiments completely. MM, though magnetic, is not at par with this 3D. The TW release is in a box, and other releases so far have been that crap blu green colour which couldn't have looked worse if they tried.

Glossy finish + different artwork wins it for me. In fact I haven't once thought that the gold banner across the top on the 2D versions was out of place either. I know I'll like mine once they are here :oohyeah:

As far as i think, Singapore is the winner with the embossed slip and the booklet and film cell.

Maybe I even re-order that Gollum Steel, that I canceled last week.
It was the first one I liked, when I ordered it a few months ago, and I was afraid that It was a G1.
But I must say .. I like it. So in a week or 2 I will order one.

I agree with you buddy the SG version from Alex is the winner out of all the releases I think. ;) With its 100 copies only of each and the unique slip plus book. Defiantly the Grail of the Hobbit releases. :D
Still waiting for my copies to arrive from Singapore...:(

But what I was discussing was that between the MM & FR versions the French is the clear winner in terms of Lenticular front and finish for me anyway. Plus they are the only country to do a Gollum Steel..

it's funny but when they announced the Hobbit movie would be made, i was shocked and as soon as released i went the see it! once i thought this would be the best movie of the year based on the experience of the LOTR as soon as i came out of the theater i was so disappointed and to end up all the steels released are just like the movie....boring! :(

I think it's a matter of expectations.
I went to see the Hobbit when it was almost off the theaters and by then I already heard that it wasn't as good as LOTR so I had little expectations and I enjoyed it a lot.

Can't say about the steelbooks since mine is still on it's way (the french 3D one).

you have (people who feel quite surprised) to think about that this "hobbit" is NOT for same public as was "the lord of the rings"

this last one is more adult and more complex than "the hobbit" which is for children and more simple ... even PJ added some sequences to his trilogy ...

I enjoyed this movie as it is no more no less and as an adult I prefer "the lord of the Rings" ... enjoy
