A gravity fed spray gun

Then I used some accelerator and clear coat which I use when I spray cars also added is a slight but if thinners I think it's 2 to 1

The steels are wiped over with cleaners I get rid of grime and oil that fingers can lea e and any oils

Then I spray it in a booth which is heated and has ventilation AND IS HEATED KNOWN AS AN OVEN
Basically it what I use to spray car bits

Then spray and leave them to harden at least a day and this will be hard enough to polish to

Some amazing results guys!!!
But seems like a lot of "try and redo" to do this special effects... :naughty:

ABSOLUTELY!!! I'm still in the R&D stage myself HAHAHA

Got it at Autozone or you can try Advanced auto parts or Walmart. It's available thru amazon to. It goes on even without drips or runs. Make sure you use a hair dryer to speed up the process in between coats

Brand?

That looks REALLY NICE man! Just left Wal-Mart from picking up Rust-Oleum's equivalent to what you're using. Going to give it a whirl...

Good luck!!! I like this one cause it dries fast and I can give it multiple coats real quick plus the Hair dryer helps :) the Finish won't be 100% professional like in the OP but it makes the steel look better.

The hair dryer is risky imo as you risk blowing dust and bits onto the wet coat , best bet use the hair dryer to heat the steel first so the heat of the steel sets the lacquer fir large panels we use panel heaters which don't use fans etc but pointless on small steels

Using degreaser to clean it first? I know that some degreasers will actually take the finish off, I wonder if just isopropyl alcohol would work just as well? What are you guys using to clean it with first?

I use that stuff In picture just a damp rag then wipe and it evaporates pretty much straight away can use brake cleaner with same effect

This is the stuff I went out and bought last night ($6 from Wal-Mart) per Ocielz method. It's just an aerosol can of clear coat for automobile touch ups. Hoping it's a little easier to deal with than the expensive, paint on lacquer I tried the first time. Although, I did get a much bigger, much nicer brush to try it again. I'd like to have the two options. Spray for cheaper steels and the nicer lacquer for the more expensive ones. I'll post my results of both after attempt #1 (spray) & attempt #2 (lacquer).

I just used an isopropyl (alcohol) wipe that you would use to clean a computer screen with. When I ran out of those, I used what basically amounts to the same thing I had in a spray bottle that's used to clean eyeglasses with and wiped it with a lint-free micro-fiber cloth. I think any product that's mainly alcohol will work. You'd just have to be careful about any additives.

Howie what are you using to polish with? Just a buffing cloth or something?

90% of them are as they come after spraying the only time I've buffed is if it finished with an orange peel look such as iron man 3 and with that I flatted it off with 1500 grade sand paper and water then buff it up with rubbing compound to get the mirror finish . But the others I don't need to polish but you can use any normal car polish on the stuff I use
