The steels are wiped over with cleaners I get rid of grime and oil that fingers can lea e and any oils

Then I spray it in a booth which is heated and has ventilation AND IS HEATED KNOWN AS AN OVEN
Basically it what I use to spray car bits

Then spray and leave them to harden at least a day and this will be hard enough to polish to

Got these two in the mail today. Going to be trying it out on a few steels this evening. I'll post my results when done.

Thank you Howie for the inspiration to do this as well as all your advice!!!

It's ok what type of lacquer is that and how you applying it ?

Well, I did some research and it's the best kind/brand for interior decorating purposes. I asked the company if it would be ok on already painted metal surfaces and they said that it will work just fine. It's a company out of the UK called "Polyvine". And it's labeled as "multi-purpose lacquer w/ gloss finish". Directions say to use a synthetic brush, but I'm thinking about using a brand new cloth diaper. I think it will prevent any lines/strokes in the coat. If you have any last minute advice, I'd love to hear it, buddy! :thanks:
Oh, and it's water based...

I'm still concerned about the application method as I don't think it will give an even finish , might be wrong tho as I don't know the product -.
Also the stuff I use reacts with the oil in your skin so make sure the steel is clean from anything hence I use the cleaner before I spray and don't breathe the stuff in lol

Was definitely planning on cleaning the steel before application. What would you recommend to use to apply it if not a brush or a rag? Keep in mind I don't have a sprayer :)

The problem is im not familiar with the stuff your using mine is like glazing on a donut it sprays on sticky then hardens and using a brush or anything would just leave marks your stuff might be different best thing would be experiment with application with brush or rag see which yo prefer I didn't S's I've got balls of steel

Any idea of what I should use to clean the steelbooks before application? Something that I can find around the house? Also, one of the steels I'm going to try it with is still sealed. Do I need to clean the one that's still sealed just in case?

Attempted a single coat on X-Men. Pretty impressed especially the back but shame that my poor camera couldn't capture the sheen properly due to poor lighting. Single coat brings the same gloss sheen as the Batman Steels.

The paper got stuck on 3 spots due to the sticky effect (a nice DO NOT lesson learned), now have to try my best to remove it.:ohno:

I am 85% pleased with the results mate. Simply due to not being able to make it look professional like howiesteed or yours. Think it is only a matter of time before achieving a higher satisfaction rate.

The best part I liked is glossing the backside of X-Men. Wow, what a difference it makes. Shame that my 8 old camera coupled with poor lighting isn't able to showcase that.:(

Oblivion and Lone Ranger are next in the queue.:ohno:

Don't think glossing is going to increase the value of the Steel as some don't like messing around but at least it gives us personal satisfaction.
