Here us a slight guide to the way I glossed mine ok here's what I used

A gravity fed spray gun
yvavu2y8.jpg

Then I used some accelerator and clear coat which I use when I spray cars also added is a slight but if thinners I think it's 2 to 1

The steels are wiped over with cleaners I get rid of grime and oil that fingers can lea e and any oils

Then I spray it in a booth which is heated and has ventilation AND IS HEATED KNOWN AS AN OVEN
Basically it what I use to spray car bits

Then spray and leave them to harden at least a day and this will be hard enough to polish to

OH I FORGOTTO ADD A PICTURE OF THE HARDENER AND THE FACT I GET ALL KITTED UP LIKE WALTER WHITE FROM BREAKING BAD ....

WELL A BREATHING MASK AND OVERALLS AS THIS STUFF ISNT GOOD FOR BREATHING IN A CONFINED SPACE

Edited for trading

Oh yeah I just meant you got some balls I've just received stid and I don't think I'll be touching that but as Llong as your happy with it that's all that matters

Ah ok. Yeah, if you paid silly money then it makes sense not to mess around.

A small area in the Steelbook was under sprayed. Got to patch it. Once that is done I will post the pics.

Wish we had a bright and sunny day in the UK :( as it is challenging to pick up the sheen in my poor camera under current lighthing conditions.

Use the tv for reflection or during the day use it as a mirror

Today i glossed the front of Sherlock Holmes and it looked flawless (just took a quick look at it) thanks to your advice, will post pictures after it has fully dried. :scat:

Sorry to keep bumping this but I'm wondering if there's any way to fix any of these steels:

Goodfellas, just a disaster:

The back looks okay. Probably because of all the text:

Spine looks okay too. I didn't try sanding it:

As promised here are the pics of Sherlock Holmes unfortunately they didn't get flawless at all its more or less as much dots as with the other. i got a new spray and i don't know if the Steelbook surface(Shelock Homes) was bad or the spray there are some spots/points were no gloss was applied. I preheated and and sprayed at angle. As someone earlier said in another subforum its just some piece of metal so why so much hassel :hilarious::hilarious:

I'm not sure how that works I'm not sure if you can work on it afterwards the only stuff I know is lacquer which you can work on after it

Thanks. I might as well respray Last Samurai since it's still not glossy. Just not sure if I should try sanding it first to get rid of those tiny dots/specks.

As for Goodfellas/Tropic Thunder, I could get at them with the sandpaper again and try more gloss coats. But I'll be practicing on other things before I go close to another steel with the spray again.

Camera hasn't capture the sheen. I will try to capture some in bright daylight. All of these look stunning in hand. Can see the gloss sheen even from a long distance. Such a shame that the Camera couldn't capture it.
