Here us a slight guide to the way I glossed mine ok here's what I used

A gravity fed spray gun
yvavu2y8.jpg

Then I used some accelerator and clear coat which I use when I spray cars also added is a slight but if thinners I think it's 2 to 1
apy7e8ar.jpg

The steels are wiped over with cleaners I get rid of grime and oil that fingers can lea e and any oils
desuse2y.jpg

Then I spray it in a booth which is heated and has ventilation AND IS HEATED KNOWN AS AN OVEN
Basically it what I use to spray car bits
apuhypa3.jpg

Then spray and leave them to harden at least a day and this will be hard enough to polish to

ysu6egez.jpg

OH I FORGOTTO ADD A PICTURE OF THE HARDENER AND THE FACT I GET ALL KITTED UP LIKE WALTER WHITE FROM BREAKING BAD ....

WELL A BREATHING MASK AND OVERALLS AS THIS STUFF ISNT GOOD FOR BREATHING IN A CONFINED SPACE

Edited for trading

Great job Compadre. Yes, lacquer is the way to go. :)

Captain America - Zavvi - Looks gorgeous after glossing. Can be made look even more better with another coat.

Also on a side note, this Laquer Product seems to linger more in the air than the Enamel Finish. I sprayed all the above steels around 4:00 pm and now it's close to 11:00 pm and there is a small faint smell. I even had the windows open and a fan sucking out the fumes in the room I was working in. Just a heads up guys.

Right guys now you actually started to listen to what I was saying from the start in using lacquer and I was right. I urge you not to use a hair dryer as the risk of bits increases god knows how much with blowing air and dust around just let them dry naturally . A heated room is good . Or a short time with the steel on a radiator for a couple of mins.

Heated room and no hair dryer - At least I got this part right from day two. :)

After relentless glossing, it is now time to put this on hold as I am out of country this weekend and will be back the week after with my family. This means I may gloss only couple of Steels per week and wouldn't be able to use my laptop at will.:hilarious:

Will post the last trio of custom glossed Steels tonight before I take a break.

Alright guys,
I decided to go back into the lab last night, and this is what I came out with. It was the perfect specimen not only because it's prequel was one of the originals done this way by Amazon.de, but it's also glossy and metallic which makes for a GREAT look with this...

As you can see, I have a bit of clean up to do around the spine. Spine came out pretty good though. I've had trouble with them the last couple go arounds.

In this one, I put a bit of glare on it so you could really see the crackle.

Just need to put a few coats of some paint-on lacquer I bought and it's done.

Strange Amigo. The smell on mine goes away in about 10 hours and is completely gone in about 24~36 hours.

Ok so I went out and got some Laquer Finish.........Man!! What a difference!! The Finish product is more even and way better than the Enamel Finish. Smooth as Factory finish:scat: Also it has a nice Mirror like finish that the Enamel Coat was somewhat lacking.

All of the following were done with Laquer Finish:D

All of these were sprayed within an hour and I'm going to leave them out for 2 days. That way the smell can get cleared. Overall much better product and way better finish than Enamel. Same price for each but Go with Laquer:scat:

Great job!
Man, the Corpse Bride SCREAMED for gloss!!!

Guys,

There are two more important points to mention:.

1. Natural Lighting - we know how the weather is in the UK. :(
2. Camera - A better camera can produce a better image.

The above factors are important to showcase the effort. If we had a bright and sunny day I am sure you can project the sheen better.

I don't have a radiator or heated garage. What about a space heater?

as long as you can get the room warm doesnt have to be red hot just warm as too hot will send it drying too quick and it will clump up too much see my iron man before i flatted off .
and preferably nothing that blasts air as it will move dust and **** around meaning more bits
if that makes sense

Well finally got something done. I first tried on a junky steelbook to test angles ect. Then I just did my walking dead and im quite pleased but im bummed it has a few bubbles otherwise its perfect! Working on letting the front sit a bit.

Hey guys I think I've cracked it. Used a cheap pound shop car spray which worked ok for one steel so it got me focused on car lacquer. I bought a 500ml can from halfords for £7.99 and have never looked back I'll upload pics ASAP. FYI I seemed to struggle to gloss Fantasia as on 4 occasions it bubbled and disapated but I was able to clean it using alcohol foam and start again. This time it was 5th time luky and as the can was starting to run out it left the steel with an almost metallic glitter effect high I love. Fluke for sure.

So I went out and picked up the can of Dupli-color lacquer that Ocielz recommended and got some fantastic results. Here they are...

As you can probably see, there were a few scratches to begin with, but wanted to use this one as a tester seeing as it was a new product.

AFTER:

Again, as you can probably see, I also ended up with a few random "bits" getting into the coat. This was 100% my fault for not making sure the room I did it in was spotless.
