So, we have the "Fake" and "Steelbook Price Drop" thread, but we don't yet have the thread where you post listings with "crazy" prices for Steelbooks. If you see any, post them here and have fun debating. As per forum rules, please remain respectful with each other-one person's "high price", could be another's "deal of a lifetime" score. Enjoy! :scat:

Please keep discussion to Ebay and other retailers, not private sellers.

I don't agree with shill bidding. This seller probably started the auction at anything besides $0.01 or $0.99. Click on the no. Of bids to confirm. And yes it's really really important that the auction starts at $0.01. There's a long winded psychological explanation that I don't wanna get into.

That's just BS - 2 people artificially raised the price and the seller cancelled the fake bids by now. Happens all the time that 3rd parties try to raise the price so another seller can put the same item on for a BIN that is too high, but seems low compared to the price that this allegedly fetches via auction.... there is some psychology there, but it has nothing to do with people bidding more if the auction starts at 0.01....

I have no idea what you're talking about. Click on the link I quoted, this, I assume is the actual link to the auction. I see a starting bid of 40 quid, and 2 bidders, 1 with a bid of 41 quids, the other with a bid of 42. One bidder has nearly 200 feedback, the other has over 1000. I don't see no 0 or 1 feedback bidders, are we even talking about the same thing?

Click on the bids and then you'll see the 2 previous "bidders" with "0" and "1" feedbacks respectively:

Yes I saw that, but they are no longer there. So what is the problem? Officially, there are 2 bids. Do not concern yourself with anything else.

:hilarious: You really are the most self-confident clueless person I've ever seen...

Self confident? Absolutely! Clueless? Eh, not so much. But getting back to this "Schill bidding" topic. All I gotta say is everyone is always very quick to throw that out, every time something looks suspicious. Everyone's also 100% certain that they right. But I ask you how certain are you that this is a Schill bid? Sure, with no consequences, I'm certain that your answer is 100% positive. But would you bet your mortgage on it? Would you bet your life on it? Really, how certain are you? If you are not physically there, to see the person doing this, how can you be absolutely 100% certain that this is the case? Based on what?

I'm not stupid, in this case, I would say there is a really good chance that the 2 retracted bids were Schill bids (I give it a 90%, never 100). But if I was the seller, I would not retract those bids. I would wait till auctions end, then send him an invoice for 155 quid. If he don't pay, I report him to eBay, and leave him a negative feedback. If this Schill bidder makes it his hobby to do this kinda thing, perhaps 10-12 negative feedback s in a row will dissuade this nasty habit. Even if it doesn't, it would definitely effect who's gonna bid on his auctions, no? So you see, these things have a way of working themselves out. We don't need guys like you sounding off false alarms, just because you're "suspicious".

Well, maybe you are not clueless, but somebody who doesn't know that you can't leave negatve feedback for a bidder is certainly not in a position to lecture anybody on ebay bidding... Sometimes it would really be wise to let things slide and ignore the urge to comment on everything.

I apologize for any misunderstanding and would not bet my house on the fact that this was shill bidding. It was though :D

Can we keep it friendly please folks. We don't want to start having to delete posts.

No need to do that my man, we're just having a friendly discussion here. I just have an issue with this "100% certainty" notion. It kinda reminds me of the time when Mike Tyson fought Leon Spinks. Good ole Leon told the press that he had a "100%" foolproof plan of how to beat Tyson. Tyson's response to this "100%" certainty? I'll quote the great man himself. "Everyone's gotta plan.......until they get hit!" That says it all.

Oh is that right eh? I coulda swore I was left a couple of "retaliatory" negative feedbacks from shady sellers. It doesn't matter if they took 2 months to mail it to you. It doesn't matter if its damaged, and they described it as "perfect". They just wait til you leave them a feedback, then give you a negative "retaliatory" feedback if you give one to them. This happened a few years ago, so if ebay changed the rules so that sellers cannot leave negative feedbacks to buyers, I say good. It gives me great comfort in knowing that theres nothing a seller can do, because I'm a buyer, not a seller. Say? who would you be on ebay? ;)

This is kind of tempting. With the extortionate postage (I though ebay included fees on postage not to stop this kind of thing) this comes in at about £90 which isn't bad.

The guy has 100% feedback, and if paying via PayPal, you should be covered

Hmmmm

Also, check the close-up look on the ironpack, totally messed up, lots of circular scratches.

There was a better deal earlier on an open/mint one but I missed out by a few $, it went for $122

I was bidding on that one as well :) I put in a maximum of 120 and it went for 122

Hahaha what are the odds? Too bad we both missed out by a couple of bucks :)

There are a few more listed as BIN but the asking price is way more than what I'm willing to fork :p

Yep, not going to go that high :)

I've emailed the guy about the scuffing. More than the minor he describes it as. Will see if he responds
