So, we have the "Fake" and "Steelbook Price Drop" thread, but we don't yet have the thread where you post listings with "crazy" prices for Steelbooks. If you see any, post them here and have fun debating. As per forum rules, please remain respectful with each other-one person's "high price", could be another's "deal of a lifetime" score. Enjoy! :scat:

Please keep discussion to Ebay and other retailers, not private sellers.

I'm so going to be featured in this section very soon. I'm gonna put my copy of IM for sale, $1500, just for funsies, no best offer, fixed price, won't answer any sellers questions, take it or leave it

I know it won't sell, but at least we'll have a good laugh for the price of a lousy eBay listing :joy:

Alot of the ebay prices are about timing. There are significant fluctuations of buyers with the money to drive the prices up.

As an example...i sold a pair of used Air Jordan's in a size 6 (not my size) that are from 1991 for $355. I bought them from a thrift store 10 years ago for $2.99. But, the winning bidder never paid. The next highest bid was $350. I put them back up for auction and someone used the buy it now for $350. So, I knew there was a market for these shoes. This kid didn't pay either.

I put them up a third time and this third time they only sold for $158. There wasn't anybody around this last time to bid them up to the $300's. Luckily, this guy didn't pay either so now I can see if they'll go much higher than that.

Moral of the story........don't sell size 6 Air Jordan's cuz the people who wear size 6 are usually kids with no money!;)

:hilarious: story too funny...now I can sleep with a smile :)

Yep, it's all about timing. I have been looking for Final Fantasy...amazon has it listed for $200, I kept getting outbid on ebay for $110 smash box...and finally, I got one for $80 sealed and mint condition. So excited about it! :)

Truly another classic for the books.

Word of advice to new and recent collectors - ignore the hype on rare steelbooks and focus on the new releases. They are getting better at an affordable price (e.g UK's Hurt Locker, France's The Thing, etc). Thanks to forums and communities like HDN, we can get any new steelbook on release day and sometimes even exclusives like the Blufans.com Real Steel.

This Drive steelbook must be really special. Maybe because it went through his hands. :p

Actually he's selling several movies: Drive Steelbook, Unstoppable BluRay Combo, Aviator DVD Steelbook, A History of Violence Prestige Edition, Les Promesses de l'Ombre (french movie, collector edition). He said to send him a question to see pictures of all the items (I assume he chose to use the Drive one as it is a big seller).

It's not too bad for 100 Euros :)
