So, we have the "Fake" and "Steelbook Price Drop" thread, but we don't yet have the thread where you post listings with "crazy" prices for Steelbooks. If you see any, post them here and have fun debating. As per forum rules, please remain respectful with each other-one person's "high price", could be another's "deal of a lifetime" score. Enjoy! :scat:

Please keep discussion to Ebay and other retailers, not private sellers.

I cant understand why people are willing to pay sooo much for items like this. I remember back to the g1 steelbook days. It must make some people sick knowing what they paid for some of them steels back then and what they go for now. The same will happen with g2. Fair play to the sellers though. They are the only winners.

I think that's a near certainty. This is a boom period for sellers/owners of rare blu ray steels but it won't last forever. Even the mighty Iron Man and Rambo steels will one day have their values drop to almost nothing. It's the same for any collectable media that is technology dependent. The same thing happened with VHS and then Laserdisc and then DVD - there were 'grails' in each format, but when the next technology shows up then they lose most or all of their value.

Once the next revolution in home cinema is announced (and it will happen, they're working on it) blu ray will become just another obsolete format, and all those G2 steelies will plummet in value as we embrace the new media.

So, yes in the short term rare blu ray steels will continue to appreciate in worth. Long term though, they're not what you'd call a good investment.

they're not a good investment unless you pay 30-50 for them and use them for enjoyment...

if you're buying for profit, maybe it's best to plan more short term than anything...

for the most part i've bought for enjoyment, i love my harry potter FS set and will never sell them

yes, i may have paid, and probably will continue to pay, quite a bit to secure certain titles that i WANT. but even when their monetary values crash and burn, they will still mean something to me cause they're just so darn pretty :oohyeah:

i love it! but i also understand i've come into the game WAY too late to secure all the big boys, no matter how pretty they may be

same goes for Iron Man, Mirrors Edge, Rambo, etc... some people don't know why others go wow with those.

It's very subjective as you should know we all have different taste. I have all of them and I can attest that all of them are amazing.

I'm pretty sure that seller is on here. I don't really understand the appeal for R&J & Moulin Rouge steels anyway they just lack a wow factor to me that the other steels at that price do (Iron Man, Mirrors Edge & Rambo etc all make me  )

Haha quit bragging :(

Hello all-a friendly reminder. Please feel free to start discussions in the Blu-Ray and other forums that pertain to the future of physical formats and other topics etc etc. This thread should be used for pointing out 'outrageous' prices on Steelbooks found on Ebay. Thanks! DB, Staff

I do realise it is subjective, I was merely pointing out I just didn't find the appeal, not sure why, just not for me I guess :scat:
