And this is why you NEVER do in store pickups at Best Buy. Do you really want some random store employee (who doesn't know the meaning of OCD mint), picking YOUR copy of a soon-to-be rare copy steelbook, slapping on a huge sticker which rips up your packaging as soon as you attempt to remove it, and possibly abusing it throwing it around in a pickup bin?

In my case, I showed up @ 10am and took 4-5 copies to inspect. Took the mint OCD steels I wanted and left the rest. I personally took 4 (keeping one sealed, the rest im trading on this forum with other members).

I can remove the sticker easily, though I agree it's annoying and I'm a collector so I tend to do things with alil more care and patience.

Use a hairdryer on a low setting to get the sticker off and go slow. Peel one corner then apply low heat to weaken the adhesive. Works for all stickers I've had.

Or if it's really strong; a cotton bud, nail polish remover and lots of patience!

I'm sick and tired of people bitching at BB employees for the way they handle movies or steelbooks. OCD is not their problem, it's yours.

ALSO how are they supposed to know what steelbooks mean. To them it's just another case, a different version of the movie. There is no training course or class on blu-ray collectibles. They're not required to visit HDN and BR.com to figure out that there exists blu-ray collecting communities. So they put a fat sticker on your plastic sleeve. That's store policy. They're just doing their job. You know, the ones who are looking for a job right now, would gladly slap these stickers on there as well if it meant they could keep it by not violating any rules or policies.

They're just doing their job. Be glad they put the right version of the movie on reserve.

I hear ya bud ... but ... they should know what SteelBook is by now ... at least a few of the employees because they are actually (finally) advertising them as such. Very back page of AD this week.

Granted I dont expect all the employees to know what a steelbook is ... but can I just get one? haha. In reality I dont rely on the employee to find the steelbook for me ... like today, I just brought in my hammer of the gods and they all graciously pointed me to the thor stand.

I went to my local BB 3 hours after they opened. They had a Thor display as you walk in. All the steels were gone. Went to the counter. Some other stores in the area still had it. I really just wanted to see it, so no road trip for me. A pathetic # of steels for the demand if you ask me. These damn things should be available for at least a couple of weeks. How can they plan so poorly?

I was just venting against how people are just complaining repeatedly as to how Best Buy employees mishandle steelbooks. To them they don't hold any value, but to us it's different.

It's like any other collection hobby. Most of us may not see snow globes as an item of any significant value, because we just don't care, but to a collector it's different.

Any way, sucks to hear that you were out of luck with the steelbook. I'll see what I can do. Need to get all my copies in hand first before making any promises.

There is only one way to go shopping for Thor 2, a way guaranteed to make all others bow and give up their steelbooks in their hands should they have taken them prior to the Lightning God's arrival .....

With MJOLNIR in hand!

You could've had them ship them to you where some random employee (who is most likely NOT a collector) would throw it in a box with absolutely no bubble wrap and ship it across the country to you.

I held a GB for these and had to peel off about 9 of those stickers. Ended up with not one tear. No special tools needed...just my mitts. Also, ALL the in-store pickups were FLAWLESS. Must've gotten lucky, I guess ;-)

Oh, and I would've liked to have avoided the in-store pickups, but here in Houston (4th largest city in U.S.) we have around 30 stores. By the time I made it to #4 (with starting right at 10 a.m.), most stores were sold out.

If everything works out I should have 13 copies on hand. 3 for me, 1-3 for real life friends, potentially leaving 7-9 for the GB.

That is as long as all the copies are in HDN Seal Of Approval condition.

Hi there! I'm new here & I was one of the many unlucky people here in Georgia who was unable to get a copy. I didn't realize they would be completely sold out across the state when I got off work - so frustrating. Is there anyway I can buy one of your extra copies?

If anyone is willing to sell an extra copy they have a retail please let me know! The reseller prices are outrageous. Also sucks that best buy didn't put out more inventory.

I'm sure they do KNOW what steels are, but I'm sure there's a pretty good percentage that really don't care about them.

P.S. My buddy managed to snag three mint copies for me. Not sure when they sold out but I wasn't going to take any chances

I may be able to help a couple of members out with this one. I went to my local store and picked up a copy today- then received an email about an hour ago that I have 3 copies being shipped(forgot I pre-ordered). These were originally for family members, as well as myself. Two have backed out so far, but it will be Thursday before they arrive. I'm keeping one as trade bait for later, but the other two are up for grabs- barring any snafus in shipping. I'm hoping for a box, since there are three steelbooks inside. I will post back on Thursday when they arrive.

I'm in for one at retail & mint condition?!

I've been helping out USA members as part of the GB @ cost. If a member here doesn't assist, we can put your name on my list and see what happens.

um. no. just no. I think Wreck was being nice. I don't "hear ya", and actually don't agree with this at all.

Working at Target or Best Buy or Walmart does not grant one the license to have mashed potatoes for brains and bang around MY new mint steelbooks.

acting with intelligence is all that is required. like Wreck said... by now, they should definitely know what a steelbook is.

so... now... I am not shy at all. I straight up tell people to handle with care because I don't want them dented (it's happened, right in front of me at Target checkout).

One alternative method I have been experimenting with is closely inspecting it right in front of them just before handing it to them to scan and letting them know that I am just checking it for any scratches or dings. I have found that they usually handle with more care when I do this.

But as I leave the store, I'm not too concerned about looking like an OCD weirdo. I care about whether or not my Thor 2 steelbook is mint. Sorry but that's the way it is.

I agree with you as well. I am the same way with my action figures. If the cashier drops or bends one, I will tell them I no longer want it. I do the same with my steels.
