I was mocking her. Most steelbooks don't match on the front and back. Look at Thor HMV. It doesn't match at all yet everyone praises it as the best steel eva. Steels don't need to have a matching back art. As long as it is clean.

Agreed! But I do like this version better than the first one I did regardless :)

Anyone, who knows Disney steelbook designer? WTH~ Back artwork & Non spine title. I'd like to know the designer's thinking.

Disney's method is pretty simple really, they are just saving money on design & production by removing the spine and title text. As for the back image, some idiot must have thought it looked good but I don't think there is a lot of quality proof approval out there just look at Batman Forever, how the hell did that get through?

I used to work very closely with Disney and this really isn't too much of a shock, the company was so badly structured that they were leaking cash all over the place. I did ask the question a while ago but my friend was unable to get a an answer, he was getting the run-a-round and he was in Sales & Distribution!

I really do like the art for the front and how it wraps around and I could even forgive the back but the spine is shite. I'll still get it as I don't think there will be a better edition for the price which after my mystery discount and a few Zavvi points brings it down to £17.

So this is a new release steelbook of the first Thor movie? Or Thor 2? Because I can't tell by looking at the steelbook! Not mad at the artwork, but I certainly don't care enough for it to pay £25. Especially considering that I live in the US and I'll probably be able to pick up the slipcovered 3D blu for close to half of that price, NO thank you Zavvi/Disney.

(And now that I look at it more, this makes absolutely no sense. The artwork wraps from front to back so the intent is that it's a solid image when you look at the steelbook laying flat. But if you lay it flat and look at the complete image, there's faces just floating under his cape? And there are picture frames hooked onto his cape on the back? Yep, so many things wrong here.)

After some time I like the cover, the rear isn't great but I can live with it. The spine is the killer though, as usual it's just awful effort. If Disney wanted to avoid the title for localisation cheapness fine but there's just no attempt at making it look good. Didn't like the face approach on the Avengers sb either

There's a dedicated post by Marvel relating to this release on their official UK page and other than myself, I can't see any other comments complaining. :)

I've sent them an inbox message, that way you get to see when they've read it! I've had responses previously that way, and with other businesses not just Zavvi :)

Yeah, I think I'll just do an Iron Man 3 and cancel this. I'll get the 3d slipcover amaray instead. I'm sure it won't be much cheaper knowing Disney, but I refuse to indulge lazy crap like this.

*sigh* Disney, if you can't come up with anything good for the back cover, sometimes it's best to leave it blank with maybe just a portion of his cape. No need to add extraneous elements that don't match the front cover.

Am I the only person whose Mystery Discount code will not apply to a pre-order and/or a steelbook!?!

It only worked for specific Steelbook pre-orders. This, Frozen, Aliens, and The Descent. Also the discount will not be applicable beyond the first £100 of your order.

{param}. Oh wait, IIRC, the promotion code ends on 9th Jan at 23:59 UK time.
