Idea to please fans:

Hear me out, a transparent slipcover with the Title on the Front and spine...and maybe the ratings/other info on the back. That way you can have the Titles when shelved and displayed, you can take it out and appreciate the art on its own, and you have a minimalistic protective sleeve. This would be a pretty cost-effective and practical remedy.

Like DE 1st release Inception? yes this is another good idea:thumbs: , tho i jus had a rant in the ask Wreck thread that title-less art was ok as long as the title is always on the spine!

I think you'll be disappointed, barrycameron, sorry to say. It'll be the same cheap, nasty, dull metal that we've come to expect from our friends at Zavvi. I'm looking forward to the blufans pics to see how the masters work!!

in what way shape or form is this zavvi's fault considering its the same everywhere in the world?

I'm not looking to have a fight... just stating the obvious in my opinion. The prices from Zavvi have gone up and up and the steelbooks are not getting any better. The Zavvi exclusives have followed a similar format, dull cheaper quality metal and framed. You just have to look at steels on general release recently... World's End, Kick Ass 2 that they are quality steels.
I love the fact that all the effort they put in on this site to enable us to buy Blu fans releases, which I have been lucky enough to get in on, that the quality is amazing. Oz, Face Off etc, have blown everything else out of the water. I for one would like to spend a little extra of my hard earned cash on something a bit more exclusive, limited and different (which it used to be like).
In my opinion, the route on Zavvi exclusives seems to follow a pattern now. Roger Rabbit and Aladdin great then down hill from there. I do hope that changes, but for now it does not look like it. I have given up now, as the metal quality allows it to be dented more easily and the returns process extremely poor.

I didn't see your post as starting a fight at all. People should be able to express their opinion here and I agree with you about the quality of Disney steels since Aladdin. However, Disney are notoriously tough when it comes to steelbooks in the UK. For years they have omitted special features and the like over here. Disney tend to be a 'take it or leave it' type of company and I would argue it's their standards which have slipped dramatically recently. As much as I do not love Zavvi I think they have very say into how steels are produced and it's mostly a studio decision. Look at the recent Warner steels (TDKR, and Man of Steel) they were trade wide and still pretty poor.

Blufans are luckier in the way that China is a bit of an anomalous market where they can ask for changes and they are listened to (to an extent) because of it being difficult to get a foothold in China for companies. You see Disney constantly making changes for the Chinese market even down to extra scenes in Iron Man 3 specifically for China. Other Studios follow suit too.
