Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X. ("High Altitude Warfare eXperimental squadron")[3] is an upcoming combat flight simulator video game developed by Ubisoft Romania and published by Ubisoft for Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It is to be released in March 3, 2009 (US)[4]. It was officially announced on July 15, 2008 at E3 2008.

H.A.W.X. is set in 2012 above the skies of a world increasingly dependent on private military companies (PMCs) and elite mercenaries who have a relaxed view on the law. As these non-governmental organizations gain power, global conflict erupts with one powerful PMC attacking the United States.[8]

The game is set in the same universe as Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter; as Captain Scott Mitchell, the Ghost leader, is featured in one of the missions.[9] Plot elements are carried over from other Tom Clancy games such as the missile defense system found in Tom Clancy's EndWar.[9] G4's interview with H.A.W.X.'s lead designer reveals that the game takes place in between Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 and Tom Clancy's EndWar.[10] [11]

The player begins the game as a former U.S. Air Force Pilot David Crinshaw who provides fire-support missions for the Ghost team as part of an elite unit called H.A.W.X. Some time after the events of Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2, the player joins a PMC, and flies missions for them until there is a crisis with the United States being attacked by the player's PMC. At this point, the player returns to the United States Air Force to defend the country from the PMC.

Ubisoft is adding to the H.A.W.X. fleet this week, bringing six new planes to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 game that bears Tom Clancy's name via the downloadable European Assault Pack.

The new aircraft includes the Dassault Rafale, Saab-37 Viggen, Mirage 2000N, Mirage 4000, FB-22 prototype bomber and the experimental XA-20 Razorback from Tom Clancy's EndWar. Ubisoft also blew its DLC load a little early, showing off a hell of a lot more than it probably planned to.

In addition to releasing screen shots from the European Assault Pack, it also (we assume inadvertently) released screens from the "US Eagles" and "Russian Falcons" downloadable plane packs. Go ahead, look at all those screens. Even someone as ignorant to military aircraft as myself can tell there's more than just a half-dozen European fighters in here.

Those jets are sweet!! but I cannot believe how sweet the F-22 man I was so happy when I unlocked it and demolished anything in my path!! this game is sweet!

told you man, peeps just gotta play the campaign first tho to get the hang of it ... after a few missions and u learn the controls its smooth sailing from there. We really need to play some MP together and I can help you with some your campaign too as u can invite me in and u still get credit. I lack alot of trophies that I can get if I just play more MP ... it just kinda gets old when your used to playing game w/ friends online and then this one im just by myself.

Tucked away within Ubisoft's financial results announcements from yesterday was news that Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X. had moved a million copies worldwide since launch last month.

For what amounts to little more than a modern-day Rogue Squadron clone, which was lacking in even the backhanded militaristic charm of other Clancy games, that's an impressive feat!

Guess it goes to show that, despite the flight sim genre going into a coma in recent years, people still want to fly jets and shoot at other people in jets.

I know I do. Which is why, above criticisms and all, I still found myself playing the game for days on end. Desperate times, desperate measures, etc etc, you know the deal.

Realllllly wish Ace Combat 6 would come to PS3...

I didn't mind HAWX, but it just wasn't the same... I felt dirty almost.

This will only bring more jet games ... sweet!

I really like HAWX ... took some gettting used to tho, you CANNOT just jump into MP or you will get OWWWWWWNED!

Europe has had their go, and now it's America's turn as Ubisoft prepares to release to U.S. Eagles Pack for Tom Clancy's HAWX.

The U.S. Eagles pack for HAWX features five new U.S. aircraft for the game, which is one less than the previously released European pack, but then again we're only one country. Besides, the planes in the U.S. pack are so much better. We get the F-4 Phantom II, the F-111 Aardvark tactical striker, the A-12 Avenger stealth bomber prototype, the F-15 the Peak Eagle, and the Blackbird. You know who else flies a Blackbird? The X-Men. Professor Charles Xavier, after no doubt reading the minds of the greatest military leaders of our time, chose that plane...or maybe it just looked cool.

Either way, HAWX players can fly it tomorrow, for 400 Microsoft Points or $4.99 in PlayStation dollars. I've included a gallery below, despite the fact that you've already seen all of the screens.

What the hell is a blackbird doing there? really? I thought it was an unarmed plane....:wtf:

BTW: My two favorite missions are fighting over Hawaii and protecting Washington D.C.

Enjoy it while you can. The President and the Pentagon scraped production. Lockheed Martin is going through some MAJOR lay-offs coming up. I have a couple of friends who work for them, and they're losing their jobs. :(

Seems like horns may be getting his horhay, now if one more gets it we will have a team :scat:

sweet!!! We can do some co-op missions, that way I can help ya' cuz ur gonna suck at first.
