I know this should be in the retail thread but its important
Can HDN Staff find out if this is temporary them using cardboard envelopes

I got delivery today of 3 different steelbooks from Zavvi

2 were the usual white boxes and one was the cardboard envelope

I'm still awaiting delivery of V For Vendetta but I should have this by Tomorrow or Friday/Monday/Tuesday and I expect it will be as most have been in a cardboard envelope

This is bad for all of us but it needs to be clarified very quickly have they now dropped permanently using the White Boxes or is it just temporary and we will see the boxes back soon

Hi Paul, we've received an update and they are looking into this. The warehouse was to include foam in the shipments, but apparently it was not always included. This envelope with foam was to be a new and tested trial packaging. I don't know if they will continue to use it in the future, but I wanted to update the thread to let you all know that they are aware of this, and are actively investigating.

That's interesting, I received 6 out of 6 in the brown envelope and none of them had foam attached. 3 of them are going back as damaged if they ever decide to reply to my request to be allowed to return their damaged merchandise to them.
I do appreciate I am asking a lot of you - sorry Zavvi for the inconvenience of wanting to return the trashed steelbooks you sent me. I realise that under the terms of your customer service, I have absolutely no right to bother you at all once you have my money in your pocket.

Well aside from the fact that not one person got the foam - I hardly think that trialling on an ultra limmited steelbook is the right thing to do! EEK! How about the £4.99 Bourne's and Scott Pilgrims!?!?! :dunno:

I think calling it foam is overstating it a bit. The stuff is thinner than toilet paper and it's the definition of pointless putting it in there.

If the "home of steelbooks" is trialling sending out such collector's items in cardboard mailers, they should be ashamed of themselves.

I received an email with my collect+ delivery sheet atatched. It states.
1. Wrap your parcel securely
- Always use a sturdy box or Jiffy bag.
- Seal the package with strong tape.

Quite ironic that they say that considering the sh1t these f.ucking morons shipped it in.
Useless Twats.

Add a brick to drive their postage costs up

C'mon zavvi alot of us spend good money with you this is unacceptable!
Mine also arrived in the ****** brown mailer, looks like I got lucky cause it was perfect(this time!)
One of the reasons I only order occasionally from them now

Your post makes for unpleasant reading with all that bad language, is it really necessary?

My copy of Inside Llewyn Davis had the 'foam'. If this is a permanent change, then I will be cancelling my pre-orders. I don't mind dealing with Zavvi customer service now and again, but if it was every other order it would be a massive pain.

Hi Brad, thanks-yes, we all understand the frustration our members are experiencing with this situation, believe me. We'll post if there are any other updates. Thanks all.

Yes, I agree. The use of the words 'Jiffy bag' shouldn't be used on this site.

If the price of cardboard and foam is seriously too expensive for zavvi to ship their steelbooks in, they really need to just drop getting exclusives and let another retailer take over for the UK. They promised to give better packing when they first became the "home of steelbookz" and delivered with a box and REAL foam. Then it regressed to a thinner box and sheet of paper. Now its back at square one as a test trial?!?! The A1 envelopes were what they originally shipped in before they were informed to up their packing game.

If that's the case, then I'll guess we'll all be ordering multiple copies of every limited run Steelbook in the future, just to try and get a mint copy and then send back the damaged ones. Yes they will sell out fast and Zavvi will look good, but not if half of them come back from being damaged.

THIS HAS GOT TO BE A BAD JOKE !!!!
I´ve also recieved my SteelBook in the crappy new cardboard envelope but I was one of the lucky ones (?) with some foam inside... FOAM??
it´s about as thick as double layered toilet paper and isn´t able to add ANY protection AT ALL to ANYTHING..
you really have to wonder what they´ve been smoking at ZAVVI again...
U N B E L I E V A B L E !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I MOST DEFINITELY won´t be placing any new orders for the time being and if I don´t hear anything about a proper solution to this ASAP I´ll start cancelling my other orders as well

Whatever way to increase profits I guess.

Maybe we'll get a label on the shrink wrap next.

If they continue using the cardboard mailer they might very well all arrive damaged. :(
I'd rather they started charging us for shipping and gave us half decent packaging than this.

I know people don't like the prices some places charge for shipping, but you'd never get your steels in a cardboard mailer.
I agree. I would very much rather pay what it takes to ship the steels properly. Rather than playing Russian Roulette each time I place an order. Even amarays sometimes get wrecked in the cardboard mailer. Steels? And a 2500 limited one at that? Really?
