I dislike the change to the back artwork. Vanellope is pretty much the emotional fulcrum the entire movie hinges on, so I was pleased with the initial artwork. This new one showing the video game, while it would have been a nice replacement for the front cover art, does not do justice to the characters of the film that are actually cared about.

Precisely why the interior needs to be changed. How on earth can there be a Wreck-It-Ralph steelbook created with NO Vanellope. Not even a shadow of her anywhere? She is equally as important as Ralph.

This is the reason for the new poll in the feedback section. It is not because I just wanna be a "never satisfied with anything steelbook collecting whiner".

It's because the new steelbook is void of the heart of this movie. My recommendation for interior pic shows a fun color-drenched image (also appropriate) of the top 5 main characters in WIR. (Ralph, Vanellope, Fix it Felix, Calhoun, and King Candy)... AND it showcases the race scene, one of the main focal points of the film.

Bummer, I liked the original artwork...a lot. I just cancelled. I wasn't going to do this movie in steelbook but since it holds sentimental value to me because of my daughter, I was going to, but while I like the creativeness of this artwork, I prefer the original because of what it meant to me.

On the one hand, I am glad they are listening to HDN members but now I guess this means I just have to make sure to vote when I like something.

Glad everyone else is pleased.

I brought up the artwork that Boba...did in the CA and Thor threads too...lets get those changed now :)

This is all going to get blown so far out of proportion that it'll become a genital measuring contest to see who can get Zavvi to bend over and take it deepest.

I can understand the people not happy with the change. And what about the non-frum collectors who expect one thing and receive something completely different?

The character issue does annoy me a little however nowhere near as much as Despicable Me 2 does.

I love the new back artwork. It makes this one very different from the blufans version I'm getting soon. Different enough that I don't mind double dipping now.

Just saw that the back was changed. I don`t like the new back, I guess it makes sence since the Front is in the same Design, but I still don`t like it. I`m not sure if I need this releases anyway. After the Slashed Spine disaster with Jungle Book, I´m not sure if I want to buy any more expansive Disney Steelbooks, not the biggest Disney Fan anyway.

Where do people come up with such nonsense?
Zavvi listens to the larger crowd and suddenly things are getting out of hand.
It's okay for KimchiDVD to acknowledge our feedback, but not Zavvi?

I think it's fair to say (having seen the responses since the change) that just as many people liked the old artwork as like the new one. So I wouldn't say the majority won - just the people that were vocal in their dislike.

I also preferred the old art better, it was a nice contrast between the front having old school pixelated art and the modern CGI on the back (plus the contrast of the black front vs white back). I'm still fairly happy with the new version though, so I won't cancel, but I don't think it's fair to chastise those that aren't happy about a change that has basically been forced through by a vocal group of people. Those that were happy with the initial artwork may not have spoken up when it was being discussed etc.

Looking at the vote for the interior art it seems that just as many people are happy with the current layout as the proposed one (EDIT: Actually it seems like more people like the original art, which says something), so maybe that would have been the same if a vote had been taken on the back art.

All this shows is that people should maybe think about everyone before demanding sweeping changes, as maybe what they think is best for EVERYONE is not necessarily the case. It also sets a dangerous precedent for people insisting on changes for every steel they don't like - I put down pre-orders based on the art at the time of my order, so I'm happy with it then, I'm less happy if I end up with something different come release.

Having said all that, it's good that there can be some discussion between this forum and retailers about such changes - just that maybe before we all make some kind of formal request there should be a general poll or similar.

When it comes to who preferred the old art work to the new artwork. It's not even close. since the change was announced, about 10 different people have stated a disliking for the new art compared to 40+ liking it.

you got to remember the change didn't come after a few people asked for change it comes after nearly 20 pages of people wanting a change in artwork (mixed with 4-5 people not wanting the change) you gotta admit thats a pretty big difference. & its hard to argue the majority aren't happy.

I don't agree at all, the vast majority of members here preferred the artwork as it currently is. They didn't force an artwork change though, the decision makers obviously weighed up the comments on this thread and thought a change in artwork was justified. Of course that will leave some members disappointed, but you can't please every collector which is why it is always best to try and please the majority.

At the end of the day, I would rather Zavvi listened to our concerns because often things change for the better.

I do prefer the new artwork, however I feel it would have been more respectful to the members here to offer a poll in the choosing between the old and new.

And whilst its great Zavvi have responded, I would be hoping they are also taking note of the issues with their Customer Service and warehouse problems, and we will see improvements/changes there.

Both the old back and the new back have their pros and cons. And whilst I am not going to complain about the change I would agree with some of the comments about perhaps it should have been put to a vote to see if there was a clear majority in favour of changing it.

But as the saying goes you can't plesae everyone all of the time.

I like both, the only thing I didn't like about the old back was that it was on a white background, they should have just made it black to match the front.
But this one matches with the black and the pixel art too.
I won't be cancelling over this, I have a feeling it will look better in the flesh.

You've missed my point. When it comes to people who actually bothered to post then maybe it seems that the majority wanted a change. But not everyone who buys steelbooks comes to this forum or posted in this thread. People may have seen the original artwork, put down a pre-order and then never revisited the thread. Like I said, we only saw the vocal people posting and they got their wish. 40 people wanting a change on a steel with a 4k print run is a TINY amount to justify the shift.

I'm actually not too happy with the change but I like the movie and new style enough so that I'm not going to let it put me off.

Why does the bolded bit not surprise me? ;) (Just kidding man, ha ha).

I'd also argue about whether this was a change for the better, as in my opinion it's a change for the worse. I may be in the minority but I put my money down on the steel as it was, so to come back and see I'm not getting what I ordered is a disappointment. It's easy for people to say it's an improvement when they get their own way but, as you say, everyone has different tastes and some will be disappointed.

My main concern with Zavvi caving is that members will now feel they can change art on every steelbook they don't like. So I may end up pre-ordering an item I love the look of and then come back a month later to see that it's something entirely different.

While it's good to have some feedback I'd rather Zavvi did that from the get go, before the art was final/revealed (as they did with the Olympus has Fallen steel for example) so that people could see what the options were and vote on them as and when. Less hassle and acrimony that way.

What people are forgetting is that its not only members of HDN who buy steelbooks, the majority of people on this site may prefer the new back art but what's to say that the non HDN buyers prefer the zavvi artwork.

Thanks for that, exactly my point.

Exactly so. A poll would have removed any doubt and taken no time at all to set up. People are much more likely to make a quick anonymous vote rather than post, as we can see with the poll for the internal art. I also agree with the other Zavvi issues but that's probably best saved for another thread.

I agree it would have been more much better for customers and forum users here if Zavvi asked HDN to set up a poll in the choosing different artwork when they are planning a change of a steelbook due to customers feedback on this forum

I Would like to vote if they plan a change on a steelbook and its because of feedback they see on this forum they then decide to change a steelbook due to the feedback they have seen

The fact they changed the steelbook and used a HDN user artwork creation is fantastic and means they are reading these forums
But I still think if they are going to do this ask us to decide
If there was a vote we don't know in this case what the result would have been as there was no vote

What happens next time they change artwork using artwork created by HDN user and they decide to use it without asking us and the majority don't like it and would prefer the original choice or a different choice

Next time give us a Vote
And if you don't vote you cant complain then as with any vote the majority wins
