Wrong movie:) That's the sequel. The sequel was better IMHO. The artwork on this..... I'll pass and wait to see if it ends up on one of their flash sales later.
I thought the sequel was better also. Don't know why it's getting so much hate here.

Some memorable scenes and that awesome Bon Jovi song from the soundtrack. Ah, the 80's :)

Are the Blu Ray transfers really that bad? Surely they have to be an improvement on the DVD's?

Will wait until the date to actually purchase as I'm fed up with Zavvi sending them out early and yes I agree as enjoyable as the first one is, the sequel is way way better. Very surprised there was never a third one or was there?

First film sucked, and second is only watchable because good old Jon did the soundtrack. Bon Jovi "were Gods" last few albums have sucked though!

Awesome choice Zavvi, I have always loved this film, I've seen it so many times, classic, love Kiefer

Instant buy really like both films hope they release both

Save your money the transfer is no better than the vastly cheaper dvd

Cheers for the heads up on the transfer mate.
I'll only be getting this on a £5.99 or cheaper drop then.
Hate it when the DVD is better pic than then blu Ray transfer. Really grinds me

I've ordered, I want the steelbook, many many films that get released in steelbook format are avaliable far cheaper but doesn't matter, got terminator which was avaliable at cex for 20p lol but I like steelbooks

Good luck, this will be 7 quid or less soon. Fans know it's a terrible transfer, one of the worst on bluray and not a great film. But your money

These things happen almost everything I've ever bought is cheaper sooner or later price drops are inevitable and I love the film but thanks for the concern ;)

In an Ideal World all these steelbooks of early-released U.K. Blu-rays (2008 and before) would contain nice shiny new re-mastered discs as some of these discs are going on for 10 years old now.
I do accept that (a) steelbooks are a way to shift unsold stock of old discs (easy to check by comparing the disc art/serial numbers etc. in the original Amaray releases to those inside the later steelbook releases).and (b) it's expensive to re-master and probably not considered economically viable for many of these old catalogue titles.
It's very much the exception rather than the rule that steelbooks are bound to have re-mastered content wherever its available although of course some DO and examples would include the following RE-MASTERED discs inside steelbooks :- SPARTACUS, LAWRENCE OF ARABIA, EDWARD SCISSORHANDS, THE LONG GOOD FRIDAY, THE TERMINATOR, AKIRA, FARGO, ROCKY, ROBOCOP TRILOGY, THE GOOD THE BAD AND THE UGLY, BRAM STOKER'S DRACULA,THE FRENCH CONNECTION.
It appears that 99% of later steelbook re-releases of early U.K. Blu-ray releases contain OLD DISCS (n) - I've compiled a list on another thread of all the PRE-2008 U.K. Blu-ray releases that have since been re-released in steelbooks (A FEW GOOD MEN thread - #16 - in the SPOILER box) and correct me if I'm wrong but out of the approx. 40 BDs released before 2008 / re-released in SBs several years later ONLY 1 film / disc has been re-mastered ???!!!

Regarding the PQ etc. of YOUNG GUNS: H-D D review has it down as "one to avoid" with "3/5 stars for the film itself, 3/5 stars for the HD presentation, 3 1/2 stars for the HD Audio Presentation, 1 1/2 for the Supplements and 0/5 for HD Extras."
Other comments include:-
"The "Top Gun" of Westerns . . . too manufactured . . .ridiculously bombastic score in light of the subject matter . . . gratuitous violence . . . geared to the MTV crowd . . . a little bit of believability and a little less posing could have gone a long way towards giving the film a resonance beyond just a bunch of pretty-boy faces on a movie poster."
"Previously re-mastered for a SD Special Edition in 2002 . . . this BD appears to be minted from the same master . . . certainly not the worst HD transfer ever seen but easily the worst from Lionsgate . . . the transfer, soundtrack and extras are all lacklustre and even die-hard fans may not find this enough of an upgrade over the previous SD edition to warrant a purchase"

Or even the 90's.

A lot of people forget, as well, that 'Blaze of Glory' was not actually an OST in the strict sense. JBJ contributed something of the 'signature sound' of the movie with the end titles offering, if I recall correctly, but the rest of the soundtrack was Alan Silvestri. The BOG album was in fact self-described as 'music inspired by the movie YGII' and in my mind stands as an incredible album in its own right, concept and thematic, with only 'Guano City' tagged in on the end track from the actual soundtrack itself. JBJ, being an 'outlaw' obsessive (and pal of Brat-Packers), with countless recurring Western themes in BJ discography, put together a brilliant collection of poignant and thoughtful songs, the reflective retrospective voice, as it were, of Brushy Bill, and a thousand dead outlaws, and similarly forgotten is the astounding talent that he managed to assemble to support him in the task - celebrity session musicians including Jeff Beck and Elton John.

Love the movie.

Love the JBJ album even more! Santa Fe gets me every single time... so evocative.

Unless it is a new disc release I'd wait for the eventual price drop, as mentioned already the Blu-ray is not a real improvement over the DVD. :( (n)
