I hear ya bud. But sometimes you have to let go and make compromises. End of the day what would prefer more - quality WEA Asian steelbook with English jcard or a crap subpar finish US version. You may be disappointed with English text but it really is not a deal breaker considering the kind of steelbook you get. Also quality and artwork defines Blufans steelbook not Chinese text. Chinese writing just says it's from China. That's it.

I'm sure you know what I really meant by what I said, I already had purchased the Korean steelbook NON NOva choice and getting 2 copies of 1/4 slip NOva choice when it's the same steel to get an english j-card for a Korean release, I paid/bought 2 copies close to 100$ to get that Korean 1/4 slip which now I am finding out I am not getting what I paid for... been buying Korean steelbooks for a while and this is the first time it happens... I get what you say by quality and artwork but when you already have the steel, how would you feel paying 100$ to get 2 copies you already have ? I paid for that exclusive Korean slip which is basically not so

but the point of getting a Korean Release is to get that slip that is written in Korean, if not why not buy the UK or US one since it's gonna be a same or similar J-card ! I don't speak Korean also, but if I want to read the description I'll look at my US once or IMDB the point is that it's a Korean release, it should be written in Korean... what about the people in Korea buying those steels, they also sell domestic, what if they don't speak english... China is in Chinese, taiwan is in Chinese, Blufans is in Chinese, Japan releases are written in japanse(j-card) Korean releases have always had Korean descriptions, why all of sudden only english for a Korean release ? and once you open it it's almost always WWA so the inside is in english, so you get your english part once you open a steel(most of the time)

Personally I don't care what language the back text (specifications etc.) is printed in as long as it isn't on the Steelbook itself.

and see I am on the farthest side of the fence. i believe all text should be printed in the same language in which the movie was filmed. In this case, the language of this film is English. So for all foreign countries who want to buy this movie, if they cannot understand English, then they will have to watch it either dubbed audio or with subtitles anyway. If the name of the movie is "Drive", then that is the name of the movie. Translating it into the local language makes no sense to me, especially if we are talking about collectible media where a vast majority of the buyers speak English anyway. That's why I am always saying the foreign writing should be left off even the front of the slips (and actual steelbook) altogether. They put that long sentence for the Chinese title on UP. How ridiculous. One person on HDN even said that it is because in China, if they saw only the word "UP" translated into Chinese on the cover, nobody would know what it meant because of cultural differences. What a pile. Up is up is up is up all over the world. If people in the USA can hack it, then so can the Chinese.

At any rate, back on topic... I understand that some collectors like the foreign writing even on the releases like Drive, but not I. I want my English spoken movies in English please. But for something like Pacific Rim, I wouldn't mind one single shred if there was Japanese writing on it, because it represents the movie. Amelie... French.. totally fine. The Pianist/Inglourious Bastards... German.. okay. Hopefully I don't offend with my opinion here. Tis not my intent.

the actors in the movie are speaking english throughout, no? this is an English language movie.

and btw... a high percentage of steelbook collectors are in USA/UK/CAN.

Doesn't mean they are obliged to keep it all English as it would really piss off the local market. Already there are lots of complaints that east has been producing inexpensive goods for the west whilst they themselves are forced to pay high prices for exactly the same product. As an Asian myself I do more or less the same work in the West while getting paid the wage here which is unthinkable back in my country.

After all the Drive steelbooks we've seen, I still prefer this one. It contains actual imagery from the film as opposed to "fan art" and it doesn't go overboard with the pink.

I know there's a lot of gripe about the 'Lamp' in the picture but I feel this picture captures the film very well. I might have interpreted the film a little different than other people but what I got out of the film was:

a mysterious man, who barely speaks the entire movie and we are only left with our imagination of what his past was like from his actions throughout the movie. I mean the guy doesn't even have a name, he is just Driver.

I wasn't sure if that needed to be in spoiler tags or not but the eerie artwork used for this steelbook is perfect. There is zero reason why we need Gosling's face plastered on the front like the BB steelbook or him peeling out in his car or something. It just doesn't fit the tone of this movie. The blood spatter on the back compliments the front very well. Almost as a "wonder what he's thinking about as he stares out that window...flips the steelbook over..."

This is just my opinion of course, I'll take the Lamp book

the driver character is enigmatic. the fact his back is to you in the art says it all... its as if he is always in the dark and you never actually 'see' him- he doesnt reveal much of himself.

the thing i remember most about this film is the moods, the settings, especially the way lighting is used to set the tone. natural light with lots of neon/electric light giving the film an ethereal quality, juxtaposed with an atmosphere and energy of glowing darkness....

so with this is mind, i think the light on the front cover is perfect. it is just as important as the driver character

I think having the English on the back of these slips is a good idea. The majority of these are being purchased by English speaking people.

Pretty crazy how the impact of the fans has helped to produce 3 new steelbooks within months of each other. When I first saw this movie I was instantly mesmerized by the score and cinematography. The opening sequence does an amazing job reeling in the viewer and foreshadowing future events. After I watched the movie, I read the novels Drive and Driven and was not disappointed. This film is a moving canvas of art.
