The mockup on here for months was a lot nicer imo, really loved that artwork and wish they had used that one instead.

I too prefer Ken Taylor's art, but I get why they went with Stout's. Stout did a whole bunch of different Drive pieces for the vinyl release, so they had enough material to use for front, back, inside and disc artworks. Taylor only did the one print.

Very true. It's still a great looking steelbook and can't wait to have it in my hands.

Will be keeping this sealed so region coding isn't a problem, but I do hope FS follow the Asian specialists in future and make them region free when it comes to these collectors editions. There is absolutely no need for it anymore. :)

Glad to be part of GB on this but question to someone who is in the know. Anything changed with this particular GB since the HDN fee is $5 for this release which is almost 20% of cost and never seen in other HDN GBs?

It's a donation for the site, I'm assuming. Hopefully I'm right or else this post will be quite embarrassing.

Yep. I know HDN fees means donation to help with site running cost. My question is up until now HDN fee was around $3 but is $5 for this release so will it be $3 or $5 going forward for future GBs?

From the GB thread:
- There's also 2.50$ per copy for donation at Hi-Def Ninja.
- Also, I consider my work deserve some consideration for my work/time. For this specific release, a fixed cost of 2.50$ per copy.

Half goes to HDN and a little something for Marc. Only fair imo. :)

As clearly (or I thought I made it clear) mentionned in OP, for this particular GB, it's 2.50$ for supporting HDN and 2.50$ for supporting my work/time.

Fair no?
Or... maybe go with Ebay and people overcharging you 10-15$...

To answer your question, in my GB, HDN fees were always 1$. Not, 2-3 or 5. One (1) $
This is IMO a really small fee for having the chance to participate at GB at COST, instead of 2-3x the price on EBay... IMO.

Then, I was asking for a tip in consideration for my work. You could give whatever the amount you felt. Some REALLY generous people who understand what it takes me to do all this and some cheapy b***** who never got me anything. Normally, by average (and I did +50 GB's now on HDN), it was an average of 3.00$ -> 4.00$ per copy.

Since we knew that this GB would be a first GB for a lot of people, I thought it would be "easier" to put a fixed fees. As a support to HDN, I decided to make the fixed amount "easy" and go with less than what I normally get.

Sure, first thing you'll tell yourslef "Wow Drum, you make a lot of money from those GB". Maybe... but maybe you should come and have some "fun" nights with me keeping all those Excel list up-to-date, then sending/answering many... many... MANY PM with various questions from various members, after comes the personnalized invoicing, getting Paypal payments, getting the steels, inspecting them 2-3 times EACH, exchanging defects in store, then packing, labelling and finally going to post office 2-3-4 times.

And then, you still have all the stress that hoping that it get safe to the buyer. If not, you do your best to make it the best solution as possible.

Does that answer your question or should I ask @Wreck @apsmith21 or @digitalbabe explaining how much $$$ it cost to run HDN per month (server, bandwith, maintenance, forum, licensing, etc...)?

P.S.
I'm not mad, I'm just taking 2 minutes explaining in depth.
;)

For the work that Marc puts in, asking a little extra for his time in securing these steels is very VERY little to ask. The chances of anyone getting this on places like eBay for the same price are zero, and the packaging could be crap! Marc puts a lot of time and love into making sure what arrives will put a great big smile on your face. A couple of bucks extra for a nice big smile, whats not to love.

I'm sure I speak for most here when I say that your efforts are most appreciated. I have absolutely no problem with either the HDN fee or your own, neither of which add significantly to the overall cost of obtaining this Steelbook. I hate to think what I would end up having to pay if I had to source this from eBay. Thanks for all your time and effort.
