Hey guys! Wanted to share this with my fellow US & Canada members.

I suppose some of our European members can benefit from this as well.

I think this is very news worthy for all us steelbook collectors, so it deserves it's own thread for now.

I just got an order in from amazon.de and I was very surprised at the SIZE
of the box that appeared, just for 6 steelbooks. Well, it appears that for any
NEW release, that they haven't packaged up yet or a catalog release that might be on backorder (like my order of Judge Dredd was), they have a new box.

We all remember that the package had been improved recently to bubble wrap inside a foldover box. :movie:

Well, now there is a new box, frustration free packaging, SPECIFICALLY labeled for steelbooks / metal packaging.

2 Recent "imports" from Amazon.ca. Both sent in jiffy bags

2001 SO, Had minor damage, which they were quite happy to give me a 30% refund on. Suited me, so despite the minor damage (tiny ding and 2 x 2mm scratches), their CS is very helpful.

The Departed arrived in perfect condition. This was more by luck than judgement.

I will order again, but only because the CS is excellent IMO

My first orders from amazon came in today and not a single dent or scratch on any of them, thank god. And they all came in that steelbook packaging but not a single one of them was actually put into the slots. Two of them was bubble wrapped and two was just loose inside the box.
Im happy they all arrived safe but the packaging seems to be a bit random.

Have to say amazon.ca packing is still hit and miss. Ordered Blade Runner Steelbook from them last week and it arrived in a Jiffy bag, luckily it was undamaged.
Luck of the draw I suppose!!!

idk why but most of these are arriving with dents and dings ... I ordered 3 more but I wont be surprised if they are damaged in some way. I'm hoping they are fine tho. Oddly enough its too hard for me to turn down a great cheap IB steel. lol.

to be honest, i think that is actually the case.
i have ordered 6 steels with them being so cheap (this being one of them) but i expect them all to be damaged in some way.
i think they know they are damaged too, as i bet the will all arrive in jiffy bags or those thin card things.

i tell you why..... i ordered sin city, pans labyrinth, and kill bill 2 a few weeks back. when they were all C$14.99.
all arrived in thin card packaging, all with damage. pans was badly scratched, clearly not done in transit.
anyway, i complained about all 3, and got a replacement shipped of each.
guess what! all 3 replacements were dmaaged too in some way. worse than the first ones.
i just cut my losses, as in effect i got 6 steels for C$44.97 (plus shipping) albiet 6 damaged steels. but it was just not worth the bother trying to claim a 2nd time.
i can begrudgingly accept steels with a little damage if they are real cheap, and as i got 2 copies of each, hence can sell on a copy of each, overall i should have got 3 real cheap steels.

i think this may be the same, im just hoping the damage is mininmal on the steels ive ordered today.
amazin have been pretty poor recently, i had a heat steelbook not arrive at all from amazon uk. 3 blus got caught at customs for the sake of less than a quid (which i didnt go collect, just let them go back to the US, and claimed my cash back from amz) and then the damaged steels from CA.

well i guess im due some good fortune with this order, so maybe 6 mint steels!!
(this, fighter, wrestler, ncfom, law adibing citizen and equilibrium. and all for roughly a tenner each including postage )

Too many people receiving too many damages for it not to be the case. They are sending out damages.

But they have excellent customer service and the price is right. So don't overly concern yourself.

First and last time ordering from amazon.ca.

Ordered two SBs in the recent 9.99 sale and they both arrived damaged.

I contacted CS and they .... I still can't believe they did this ... created a new order at the full price (24.99 each)
Then instantly refunded me.
But the problem with credit cards is the debit is instant and refund takes 4 - 5 days.

I used a VISA debit card so my balance was 100 euro and is now 50.
So I can't do shopping this weekend.

Never again.
Bunch of clowns.

I just got an email from Amazon.jp, I have ordered a few steels with different release dates. I believe they were telling me they were going to ship one earlier. I choose shipping grouped all together, does this mean they will they charge me for the shipping twice or is it just the once. Thanks.
