I dont know how long I will do this, or if people have questions ... but I'll check this thread daily in case people have questions about steelbooks etc. I'll try to answer to the best of my ability from what I am allowed to say in some cases or just info you may not have seen me drop before in past threads.

I am just plain sick of seeing all the old releases. I would rather see most new movies come out on steel.

I totally agree. Its much easier to budget for new releases. Muddling the market with older titles restrains ones ability to collect all their wants. I'm glad Zavvi took over the Steelbook mantle but how about taking it easy and spreading out the releases. Seems like a whole bunch come out together. Space out releases please. I also don't think every great movie deserves a steelbook. I quite often vote no on the poles. We need to slow down

What's wrong with classics from years gone by getting Steelbooks? Movies people have watched over and over and love. Sure I like new movies to get Steelbooks too and would like to see a few more, but would studios neglecting over one hundred years of great film making change that? No, it would just mean less catalogue titles and less enjoyment for most collectors who enjoy these releases.

It isn't ideal releasing so many Steelbooks at once, but you always have the choice of buying them or not. If you don't feel a movie deserves a Steelbook, then vote 'no' with your wallet :)

Anyway, I think we've gone too far off topic. I've asked the question I came here to ask, so i'm done.

And everybody has a right to their likes, if you want to spend money on old movies, be my quest. I won't buy many of them so why should I vote yes for them? Otherwise you might as well only have one box that says yes in the polls.

Years ago it was thought that catalog titles would not work in Steelbooks which clearly is not the case, and luckily some great retailers and studios have listened to feedback and been willing to take a chance on some 'meat and potato' titles that sell again and again, and some niche titles which are fan favorites. I hope we continue to see a mix of new releases, catalogs, classics, etc, because of the wide variety of tastes that Steelbook and movie fans, alike have. The Feedback forum was created specifically at HDN to allow everyone to share specific titles (it's much easier to distill 'chatted up' titles this way and pass on feedback, than it is in 'lists' threads). Several of us have posted dozens and dozens of threads in there, as have members have made 1000's of comments and posts here, which helped get Steelbook titles considered and released. Some info simply cannot be shared publicly for a variety of reasons. Thanks everyone who has already posted their 'wants'-feel free to search and use that forum and post your own threads as well. Believe me-your voices are getting heard, but there are only so many titles that can be released, or that decision makers will bet on, at a time, so they can't all be released. But, those most chatted about, voted for, etc, of course have a better chance of being 'in the running'. :scat:

That's not a problem, you're welcome to vote no and not purchase any that may eventually end up getting a Steelbook. My point is a lot of people would like to see those titles released, therefore I wanted to bring it to the attention of Wreck to see if it could be passed on.

why purchasing if you don't need? and why getting your fun ruined by things you have no interests in at all? i don't understand.

i go after steels i want only and movies i enjoy. Some when 20-30 older popular steels and great movies are release within a few weeks of each other alongside new releases makes it much harder and frustrating.

Also a few of the ones released at wallyworld and now best buy I wanted. And i actually got one I really wanted. Chances are I wont we able to get all the rest I wanted because of shelf wear. Which is why I pre ordered a few on amazon.

I can only space out so much.

Hi Wreck, I posted in numerous threads today about how Zavvi should concentrate on new titles and not re-releases. So... I had a quick sift through the Steelbook Feedback forum and found the following titles which all had fifty or more 'yes' votes. If that's not enough to convince Studios/Zavvi to release them, then I don't know what will.

The Abyss: Director's Cut
A.I. (Artificial Intelligence)
American Psycho
Bad Boys II
Big Trouble In Little China
Catch Me If You Can
The Day After Tomorrow
Demolition Man
Donnie Darko
The Green Mile
The Prestige
Schindler's List
True Lies
True Romance
The Usual Suspects

Any chance these titles could be mentioned as possible future releases?

Of those, I'd buy American Psycho and TDAT.

Wreck, just a general question: why do we not see more romcom/drama/comedy in steel? I'm a fan of the range so far - any movie fan would be, but it'd be nice if some of the lighter stuff was included.

Wreck,

I read with interest that Zavvi is releasing Thor and Capt America. I have a few questions :

1. will these be limited to the usual 4,000 copies?

2. will other countries such as Japan, TW and Korea issue Thor and CA too?

3. will Zavvi or any other country issue IM and IM2 soon and if so, will it be any of the existing artwork or new artwork?

Thanks.

Agree on most, but Schindler's List is definitely a NO.
That's just not a movie for a steelbook, a steelbook doesn't do much good.
Now a digibook and collector's edition, that's what the movie deserves and that's also what it got. Steelbook is not necessary for Schindler's List.

I agree.

Wreck, what's up with the Thor & Captain America re-release/reprint?!
Zavvi just ripped off thousands of collector's who paid good money for these steelbooks, these were the holy grails and steelbooks like Thor & CA made collecting fun. Now every STEELBOOK can get a re-release when a company smells money... ?

How did Zavvi rip anybody off? They're a business at the end of the day, and there are 2 ways to look at it: either they're looking after the fan by releasing a much-loved title on steelbook with different art FOR THOSE WHO MISSED OUT, orrr....they're looking after the fan by NOT releasing that title on steelbook to retain the value of the original release for those who didn't miss out. Either way, they're looking after the fan, but this way they make money which is their main concern. Some people treat a release decision as a personal attack, as if Zavvi were out to harm them and steal food from their mouths. They're a business at the end of the day.

:movie:

The spine slash epidemic is in full swing again. Are you able to put a word into the right ears? It seem like its an issue with manufacturing and not retailers opening boxes.

Wreck, any chance we have a mole in Scanavo that will tell us the different IM3 artworks? which countries are the same and which ones will be the exclusive ones!
