I dont know how long I will do this, or if people have questions ... but I'll check this thread daily in case people have questions about steelbooks etc. I'll try to answer to the best of my ability from what I am allowed to say in some cases or just info you may not have seen me drop before in past threads.

Do you know why some publisher alsways print the fsk logo on steels?
Its useless and I dont understand why they are doing that :D
Perhaps you know..

they do it to save money and dont care ... that is truth. However, to some of their defense ...they just are uneducated in the ways. But the ones you see the fsk after the original ... its simply to save money.

It's frightening to know that.
This is how I imagine how most steelbooks are made :

The guy responsible for deciding steelbook releases opens an Excel spreadsheet with all the released movies (last updated : 17/02/06). He closes his eyes and randomly points at a title. Then he navigates to the folder of that film. There are trailers, different artworks from posters, DVD covers etc ...
He then copy pastes the amaray cover to a template from Scanavo because the images already have the right size (G2). He saves it and sends it to Scanavo, asking for 10k units (because they've always ordered that number in the past).

The end.

Seriously, if you're going to sell a "limited" collector's item, at least do some research about your target audience and what they expect, that's basic marketing ...
Luckily there are people who can reach these people and push them in the right direction, thank you Wreck !

Not surprisingly that all this releases are only looking at the bottom line.
Do you really think they release Steelbook for collector?
I think only hdn will have this in mind when it release stelbook. Lol
When you are in it, then you know the game. It's already a great leap if a title gets Steelbook treatment.

But I think nearly everybody would pay a little bit more like 0,20 €( just a example) for a steelbook without that stupid printed fsk logo.

Well the days of a FSK logo printed without a prior is seriously like 5%? Most titles htat have fsk printed, already have released without FSK.

Hangover , Faster, and many more for example.

I dont mind the fsk printed on the "reprints" as it keeps the original coveted for the collectors and then also allows a cheap steelbook for new consumers.

The fact that you are on this forum means you are an educated consumer as to what steelbook is. However a new consumer sees a real low price (on the reprint with fsk) and purchases it.... now they have discovered steelbook. Then they want more. Its a great way of turning people on to the brand and in turn into collectors. For the collectors who like having valuable items, then they should welcome the cheapies (so long as its not an exact reprint) because the more collectors there are the more valuable your collection becomes. Supply and demand.

hey wreck would be seeing a disney wave this year at all
thanks

Zavvi have good relations with Disney ... so anything is possible.

doubt it ... but there has been something like this. A silk raised lettering effect.

The Fighter Canada ( awesome steel in hand!) and The Wrestler CA have it. Also Appaloosa does.

Wreck is it possible to speak to your contacts at Zavvi and see if their web designers can remove the 'sold out' status from Steelbooks (and any other products of course) that aren't yet available to order? The reason I ask is so we don't see every thread full of either Zavvi bashing or more specifically this kind of post:

OMFG!!!! HAS IT SOLD OUT?!?!?! ZAVVI SUCKS!!!

Just a minor irritant :hilarious:

Yup, does seem it should say something else... My guess is there are two options ... taking orders or it shows sold out. Be nice if there was a third .... I'll pass the concern a long.
