I dont know how long I will do this, or if people have questions ... but I'll check this thread daily in case people have questions about steelbooks etc. I'll try to answer to the best of my ability from what I am allowed to say in some cases or just info you may not have seen me drop before in past threads.

Hi, Wreck - I really enjoy this thread. I was wondering if Jack Reacher is going to get a North American steelbook release? I'd love to have a backup to the Blufans, but the Czech, Singapore and UK exclusive releases just seem too pricey. Wither Futureshop??? :(

I'm having trouble remembering what all i heard ... but its still possible so keep eyes open.

Wreck if possible, do you have any information about the new Entertainment Store UK exclusive ?

Will they be doing any more after Jack Reacher?

Thanks

That is the plan/hopes etc. I would like to say more but gotta get permission first as dont want to say too much yet.

Hello Wreck!

The amount of steelbooks being released in the UK for April and June is, err... insane! May has fewer releases, but still...

April count: 15
May count: 5
June count: 6 + The new Fox Zavvi wave looks to be June as well, which unless I've missed some, stands at 9.

Is this just a busy few months, or is this likely to be the trend going forward now?

I hope it's not going to be like this for the rest of the year aswell. At this pace there will be four Fox waves this year. I think these should've been announced for July or August. It's not so bad at the moment, but i'm sure Warner have another wave around the corner and Paramount have a few more titles up their sleeves. It won't be long until Universal and Sony make deals with Zavvi for more waves either I bet.

Wreck could you pass a couple of things onto Zavvi? One is this whole 'sold out' status on their listings. I'm sick of seeing every other post saying something has sold out when it hasn't even been made available. Another thing is their pricing. Not sure how much influence studios have on this, but Play.com did their Fox wave for £9.99, Amazon did the latest for £11.20, yet Zavvi are charging £14.99 for their wave? It's a joke, I can't afford the volume of Steelbooks at those prices.

^ I totally agree as the whole 'Sold Out' thing is getting seriously annoying now so if Zavvi could just put up something else or just not list the item at all until it's actually available to pre order that would be great.

Totally agree about the pricing too as £14.99 for a back catalogoue title is just too much for me especially with the high rate of releases at the moment.

Play had it about right with £10.99 so I hope that Zavvi will follow suit at some point.

Don't forget Quality.

I bet the FOX wave woulda been better quality if UK retailers wernt all trying to release so many different steels in such a short time frame.

...not to mention that quite a few of the moves up for release suck ass and dont even deserve a SB release IMO.

I hope they release more, I'm of the opposite opinion here...I didn't like many of the recently released ones so I see it as the more they release the more chance I have of getting one I like :) p.s. more horror releases please :ohno:

I guess my question is, if Zavvi and Play.com do not ship outside of UK (Zavvi recently said they are stopping to the US, so not sure about anything else.), is someone here that makes contact with these stores (including Amazon), to bring it to Amazon, so we can get them too.

I hate to say it, but Amazon has been amazing for the most part, but fails when some steel I want doesn't go there. It should be a world-wide release steel, so everyone can get that title in their respective regions at their Amazon store. So, even though it wouldn't happen anytime soon.....it would be nice if this could happen.

Hi Wreck

The whole new fox wave arrived in mint condition apart from robocop.

The dreaded spine slasher again. Really fed up at the moment with bad QC for uk steels. Had probs with these releases recently

Skyfall (spine slash)
2x End of watch (scratching on back)
2x Silent hill rev (scratching on back)
Ted (scratching on back)
Skyfall (blue line)
Skyfall Korea (scratching on opening side)
Universal soldier day of reck (scratching on back)
Robocop (spine slash)

Cheers

Rich

First and foremost, play.com no longer will receive exclusives. No worries on that end. They are still an online retailer and I stand to be corrected on this.
Zavvi on the other hand do ship to most of the world and at at only 1 pound (0.99 pounds) per order. You can order from them as I have on numerous occasions. Also doesn't hurt to have relationships with members in the UK and Europe that can help you out if you ever hit a snag. Shipping will be costlier so I suggest creating an account/registering with Zavvi. Just my opinion.

Hi Wreck,
First of all I'd like to say I agree with the suggestion above about Zavvi's steelbook pricing being a little high on the back catalogue titles, and that Play's £10.99 was about right.
Also, I couldn't see anything so I apologise if this has already been covered, but in light of Iron Man 3 being released in cinemas shortly, and you being connected with Zavvi, if you could pass on that having an Iron Man 1 and Iron Man 2 steelbook would be good for those of us that missed the Play exclusive. I'm not suggesting a direct reprint (Star Trek) but an alternate version.
Thanks
