Dear Collectors,

I would like to provide you with a few updates after a long break caused by the deployment of new hardware and software on our servers.

Unfortunately, the MANIACS BOX BACK TO THE FUTURE still stands in the approval process, so we decided to use the next two expected AVENGERS titles instead for next week: INFINITY WAR and AVENGERS ENDGAME.

In recent weeks, we have launched expeditions of the CASINO, PITCH BLACK, GEMINI MAN, and 47 RONIN editions.

We will start sending another batch of MONSTER FAMILY editions at the end of March because now we are still waiting for lenticulars, the tuning, and production of which traditionally take the longest.

After sending out the FAC 145 - 147 editions, we will move to the completion and distribution of the CIVIL WAR and DOCTOR STRANGE editions. Our robots are still distributing these editions, but it is very slow, which is also due to technical problems that we have been solving for several weeks.

We plan to send you the INFINITY WAR and ENDGAME editions in May.

For UK customers: We have managed to finish duty-friendly shipping via PPL and DHL.

Gradually, we would like to start publishing posts with photos and videos again, for which we have not had much time left recently.

We really appreciate your ongoing comments, posts, and support.

Thank you very much for your support.

Regards,
JC for the FA team

Mmmm I’m still waiting for my casino, ronin and pitch black. Hope FA start sending the direct orders soon As I can see some have already started to post pics on here already.

Just checked and I’m not sure how “friendly” it is still charging over £32 to ship a single steel book to the U.K.

Me too ... weird ... email says your parcel is now ready to ship so hopefully it will be picked up soon
My order went to Ready for shipping a couple of days ago and is now apparently shipped. I guess ready for shipping just means stock has been allocated and they just need to actually get it boxed up and posted/collected. Shipping from FA seems to be a bit all over the place at the moment!

! love their site because I find it very easy to navigate and get info. The biggest downer to me is when you order something you have no way to know if you are going to get it or not, and when the release date hits, it says 'preparing' for ages. It's confusing and not customer friendly I have money on account there because I too learned they don't do the credit refund thing. .Just uncool. Leaves me in limbo, and is why I missed out on the JAWS FAC GROUP BUY, because I have money on account and had an order in, which sucks...especially when your name is Jaws Finatic. lol.Love their editions, tho. Too bad the process isn't as straightforward as the site.

How can I enter? Sorry I am new here... :(

Not really new since you've been here since August of last year, but not very active :p

This thread should set you on the right track:

Both Infinity War and Endgame GBs have been approved. Links here and here.

Keep an eye on the relevant threads. Good luck with the hunt.

Does anyone know how Filmarena deals with VAT for orders to the UK since Brexit? Does it get charged at checkout or is there a customs charge once it arrives (or from DHL)?

Thanks

Dear Collectors,

we have been receiving some queries concerning updated shipping rates for the UK after Brexit.

As you all know UK has changed its status to the country out of the EU and that is why we now charge:

- 0% VAT
- higher shipping fees as the courier companies raised the fees because of customs clearance and other extra costs.

It is also fair to inform you that worldwide shipping rates were raised by 10-12% right from the start of 2021.

We are sorry for the inconvenience.
Thank you for your understanding.

Best regards,
Jan

The postal carrier/courier will process customs clearance when they receive your filmarena parcel
That means you very likely will have to pay postal carrier/courier vat + a handling fee for collection of Vat
You would also have import duty to be paid if value is over £135.00

If value is less than £135.00 you will only have vat to be paid

If value is over £135 you will have Vat and Import duty to be paid

If you avoided postal carrier/courier looking for vat to be paid it will be just luck
If DHL is the courier you can expect they will look for Vat payment from you (And Import duty if value is over £135) + they will add handling fee for collection of the Vat/Import duty payment before they deliver your parcel
That means Vat + Handling fee

Thanks Paul! I don't suppose you know what the DHL handling fee is do you? I'm guessing it'll probably be something similar to Royal Mail (£8).

I don't know as I not had DHL themselves deliver parcel to me that was from outside EU where Vat not been paid already

The only time I had DHL themselves deliver a parcel it was Amazon USA orders and that included import fee deposit in the purchase so I would have already paid Vat on those orders.
So I don't know what DHL handling fees are

Hi Paul.

I have some tax questions for you about UK buyers importing from North America. They don't have anything to do with FilmArena but I didn't know where else to post this.

eBay Canada now collects VAT from buyers in the UK. For example here's a breakdown of an order from a UK buyer:

Order total

Subtotal C $59.97
Shipping C $14.48
VAT* C $14.88
Total C $89.33

Do you know if the buyer in the UK will also have to pay import charges or any other fees on top of this when it gets to the UK? I only ship through Canada Post, (which is our postal system) I don't use any couriers. Or is it only if the value is above £135 as you mentioned above?

Here's my other question.

If I'm sending a gift to an HDN member in the UK and I mark it as "GIFT" on the customs form, do I still have to indicate the value as well. In this case $17.97 Canadian?

If so, will the recipient have to pay any taxes or import fees?

Thank you in advance for your help.

I don't think you have to declare a price on a gift. Only if the package is marked for commercial value.

If the package is marked as $18, there shouldn't be any customs fees for the recipient.

I don't know for sure but I believe that there isn't an exemption anymore even for packages marked at $18 if VAT hasn't been paid. (On items not marked as GIFT)

Having said that, I'm guessing the customs fee wouldn't be much on $18 if the UK is charging VAT at a rate of 20% ($3.60?)

I always marked my packages at $17.97 for eBay sales and I have never had any complaints about customs fees in the past. I have always assumed that there weren't any. But now that eBay collects $14.88 VAT on a $60 item I don't think I can still mark $17.97 on the customs form since it wouldn't make sense that somebody paid $14.88 VAT on an item that cost $17.97.

UK buyer won't have any other payment to pay as Vat $14.88 was included when doing the order
Note
As Vat has been already been paid by buyer when purchasing you don't need to mark a low value on parcel
It's your requirment you fill in correcly the CN22 showing vat was paid if you not using ebay global shipping program
I would suggest to avoid any issues by using ebay global shipping program on items you are selling

If you are selling a lot items regularly to people in EU I suggest you register for a Vat ID

eBay is now required to collect VAT on certain orders delivered to UK addresses

In regards to your other question when sending a parcel as a gift
Yes you are supposed to list actual value when marking as gift
If gift vaule is £39 or less no vat is required to be paid by person in UK you sent parcel

To qualify as a gift:
It's very important that no payment was made to you by person in UK for the item in the parcel

To qualify as a gift:

  • the customs declaration must be completed correctly
  • the gift must be sent from a private person outside the UK to a private person(s) in the UK
  • there is no commercial or trade element and the gift has not been paid for either directly or indirectly by anyone in the UK
  • the gift is of an occasional nature only, for example, for a birthday or anniversary
If you purchase something from outside of the UK to give as a gift to a relative or friend, whether or not it is addressed to that person, it will be treated as a ‘commercial consignment’, for which the Import VAT relief threshold in section 2.3 applies.
