I went to the first (0940 am) screening of "Jurassic World" yesterday, at the Vue Portsmouth. A great time to go to the cinema. Relatively few people there and all well behaved, no talkative kids or texting teenagers, so able to concentrate on the movie, free from distractions.
I'd agree with the comments made by others here who have seen it and enjoyed it. Gripping story. Viscerally exciting. Exceptionally realistic special effects. Good 3D, especially for a post conversion. All in all, an excellent experience.
The previous day, I had watched all three JP movies back to back, something I've never done before, to psych myself up for JW. It's amazing how far technology has come since then. What were then considered to be state of the art special effects now seem somewhat dated.
I still have a special affection for Spielberg's original "Jurassic Park", and I was pleased that there were frequent nods to it in the latest addition to the franchise. Interestingly, there were also nods to both "Predator" and "Aliens". Those who've seen it will understand where I'm coming from.
I shall be seeing it again on Monday morning, this time in 2D. I always try and see a good film at least twice at the cinema, as I tend to pick up more on subsequent viewings.
I was intending on making JW my first purchase from the new HMV site, but I think I'll go with the FA version instead, for its undoubted lavish extras.
In any event, the film comes recommended. Go see it as it is meant to be seen, on the big screen.
