- The steelbook illustration is by Krzysztof Domaradzki.
- The artwork for the slipbox was used previously for the Oldboy vinyl LP. It was co-ordinated by Nicolas Winding Refn, the director of Drive, and illustrated by Laurent Durieux. The director of Oldboy Park Chan-wook wanted one of our editions to feature this artwork so we reached out to Milan Records and illustrator Laurent Durieux. You'll be able to see more of the artwork since parts of the top and bottom were cropped out for the vinyl LP.

only disc 3 doesnt have subs which is some of the extra interviews that didnt make the new documentary.

disc 2 which has the main extras and new documentary HAS subs

From the way I'm reading it, only the documentary & the short film Simpan have subs on disc 2, none of the other extras will have english subtitles.

From their Facebook post:
**Please note that Bonus Features will NOT support English subtitles unless stated otherwise.

And @dan8885 I totally disagree with you. PlainArchive bought this release with the mere intention of selling this heavily to their international customers. That's where most of their orders come from anyways. The Korean physical media market is very small. So for me, what you said doesn't make sense. ;-)
No. Plain Archive worked hard to get the first-ever official Blu-ray release for the Korean market and always intended it to be primed for the Korean market. Since they went and made a full documentary for this release, they have to take in more money than usual with a release (next to licensing costs) and therefore went for a higher print run which they are also selling to the international market, yes. But that does not change the fact that this release has always been primarily intended for the home market. :)

I understand and thank you for clearing that up, but the numbers don't add ;-)

I have no problem with the higher price, the release just doesn't feel right and from a business view they can say it is for the Korean Market, but it will eventually be funded by the international market cause there is where the money is at.

Why do u you think that all those Korean releases are mostly 500-1000 printrun for a country who has more people living in the nations Capitol than The Netherlands has people?

Koreans simply don't buy that much physical media. The Dutch do. We have print runs here of a minimum of 2000. Why, because we like to buy media.

Nah I'm not buying this story at all. Sorry, but theres always a financial point of view in it and I just gave that ;-)

So they can say its for the Korean market, but I just don't believe it. Do Koreans want one of their most prized movies to be all in English artwork? Nah, I call B.S.

Of course, they also want to sell this to the international market. No point worth arguing here. It's just that Oldboy is a popular movie and since it has never been released there officially on Blu-ray, they primed their work for their home market (the cooperation with the director, the local documentary and hence the missing English subtitles for some bonus features, etc.). The chosen artworks however are surely designed to also appeal to international customers, no doubt there. But still, this release was not intended to just solely be sold to international customers, that's my point. Priority was to get the first official release and then sell it to both Korean and international markets to both enjoy/be able to buy the release.

The box set sounds cool and sound like some interesting goodies and depending on how it looked I would of considered that so it's bad news they won't be avaliable world wide and i understand the frustration but also understand PA's reasoning

Shame the 3rd disc won't have English subs but nearly 10 hours of extras is crazy!

Also notice these are about $10 more than standard PA exclusives at $46.89 which I'm guessing is due to the other discs and doc so I just hope these have cool goodies
But I also imagine and the thing I hate that all editions will have different goodies which each one.

I'll only be getting 1 edition and look forward to the shots but it's really bad news about the box set

Plain does ship internationally, no worries. Only the Limited Box Set (including Steelbook, Storyboard, Script, Photo Book, Essay Book, Extra Goods) will not be sold to international customers.
PET Edition has not been announced yet.
There will be no GB.

If the problem for them not shipping the box set internationally are possible returns, wouldn't be an idea to make mandatory for foreigner customers to accept a "no-return policy" for this particular case? If that's even legal, of course.

At that point it would be a personal decision whether to risk it or not.
