I pass on it, too expensive. If they have told us that some part of the money would have gone for an ecologic foundation, why not? But no, so i don't want to buy it and guarantee that these prices are normals.

I will be interesting to see how well these sell both domestic and international

From what I have seen in the thread International customers so far are mostly having the same opinion the steelbook is too expensive and lot are deciding now not to purchase but were planning to get before the price details was released
I'm sure some will be ordering as in the members with lots of money were price does not matter  but I'm sure even some of them are shocked at the price
If this had of been priced $50 to max $60 which is the price it should be in my opinion when compared to other Asian Steelbook releases I'm sure lot more members would have been willing to order at that price

I'm curious members from Asia and from Korea what their opinion is of the price and will they be purchasing from retailers selling this domestic
The International Print run is 1,800 (1,000/500/300)
Im curious what is the domestic print run is and does the steelbook have the attraction and interest that international region has

I can't see scalpers ordering this due to the price as they would have to advertise it at an even higher price to make money on it and if member not willing to pay retail price they would not pay ebay prices either

I will wait on possible UK steelbook release but will of course miss out on the beautiful Full Slip and Lenti packaging and 100 page booklet

In the meantime I will purchase the 2 BBC Hardback Books
Planet Earth: The Photographs
Planet Earth: As You've Never Seen It Before

I'm curious members from Asia and from Korea what their opinion is of the price and will they be purchasing from retailers selling this domestic
The International Print run is 1,300 (500/500/300)

Domestic print run is 1,200 (500/500/200).

Domestic print run is 1,200 (500/500/200).
1,800 + 1,200
3,000 Total Print Run
That is a lot of steelbooks that won't be sold
It's not a marvel release that would sell easily this is a release that has an interest in for a steelbook yes but customers would be expecting a reasonable price
The company that decided on this release got the pricing all wrong and will be left with lot of stock not sold
I know BBC licensing deals are not cheap especially for exclusives and limited print runs but even then the cost is usually only a bit more than usual prices compared to standard releases but not this mad pricing

What Mirage Entertainment going to do if lot is not sold they would have had to pay the BBC upfront

If it was Top Gear, I would have paid that price in a heartbeat but it's Planet Earth I can't say the same...

these discs have been available for $20 total for years. so let's say we're all willing and happy to pay full price of $20 for the discs (and let's face it, there's still profit in there).... well that still only brings the steelbook case + slip + book down to $70!!! :bored: that is far more than any other Asian releases, even the best packages that include slips and extras and limited print run.

imo, this is still at least $20 overpriced. at least. i might bite at $69.99, and it would still be the most expensive steelbook ever from a retailer, even at $70. :greedy:

Did I not tell you guys ???

If we don't buy it, they will drop the price.

Consumers call the shots.

We are all first class mugs, hyping up these releases and parting with our hard earned cash so easily. These retailers are laughing at us.

EDIT: Considering I was after a $20 price drop as mentioned earlier in the thread, i'll buy a lenti version at this price point !

Full Slip (Numbered 1 through 1,500 (But 1000 copies only for international customers)
Lenti (Numbered 1 through 1,000 (But 500 copies only for international customers)
1/4 Slip (Numbered 1 through 500 (But 300 copies only for international customers)

Total Print run 3,000
Price reduction is welcomed but I will have to wait till Dec 31st or later if it's still in stock which I expect it will be I will then consider ordering the Full Slip as long as I don't have more unexpected bills or repairs to my home to pay for

I had recently unexpected purchases I had to pay for a new oven I had to purchase that cost €400 (That €400 was meant for other uses as in Steelbooks and other film related items ) and now a plumbing fault with my drains that will set me back at least €110 or possibly more and on top of that usual Gas and Electric Bills and Mortgage etc all this in the past 2 months and next month bills due soon

I have to pay Drain Company fix a fault with plumbing issues in my home that usual plumbing fixes did not solve and that will cost me at least €110 or more depending on how long it takes they charge by the hour hopefully I can get rid of them after the first hour

$89.99 lot better than $102 but I still think they should be no more than $60
These are listed at the moment as Sale Prices so they could go back up in price at some stage I hope they don't

@jimmyv you have a very good point.

But i'm reading these are NEW discs that haven't been in circulation before.
They are the same discs that was in the previously 2010 released special edition 6 Discs
The First release 5 Discs was in 2007
The Special Edition 6 Discs was released in UK 2010 and in USA 2011

In that case I already own these discs ...

That's put me off this purchase again. I don't want to pay so much just for a fancy lenticular slip.

Look at kimchis inside out: half the price and it didn't sell out yet. I hope for Mirage Entertainment that they haven't paid cash upfront for the rights. This will be a desaster
