From PA facebook :
"It's unfortunate to find out the disappointing reaction to the price points as a seller.

Plain Archive was asked by Mirage Entertainment to sell Planet Earth on their behalf and we were not involved in the making of this product nor were we involved in the pricing.

To offer our opinion on this matter, we must explain that the size of the Blu-ray market in South Korea is UK's 1/200, and US's 1/1000. The production cost therefore, relative to other bigger markets in the world, would be different.

Also, the right to release in Blu-ray is held by the BBC in the UK, and by the Discovery Channel in the US. In contrast to these gigantic corporations, the Korean release is being managed by a small firm, paying a huge sums of money to the BBC. It's inevitable that this edition by Mirage Entertainment is less attractive when it comes down to the pricing.

Planet Earth Ultimate Collector's Edition was primarily made for the Korean market, but we provided Mirage Entertainment with our store in case of some demand from potential customers overseas.

That being said, the explanation above is irrelevant to Plain Archive's own pricing strategy for our own releases, and it does not reflect the opinions of Mirage Entertainment.

Lastly, the 6-disc Blu-ray released a few years ago in the UK and the US will be on sale yet again with discounts during the holiday season. However, this Steelbook edition is just about to get released in Korea, and as we don't have Black Friday, Boxing Day, etc. the pricing would naturally not face any fluctuations."

I don't care about the price, I'm getting me that full slip & lenticular edition. I love anything to do with David Attenborough (thank god it's him narrating), so naturally I'll be buying this. Hopefully, more of his series will follow.

I think I'm gonna eat my own words here. Wasn't expecting these prices tbh. I would have gotten both the full slip & the lenticular editions if they both came up to $120/130 total. But at $102.99 for each edition and with christmas coming up, I will have to reconsider it. Don't know if I'll go for only one edition or not. And if so, which one would be the better one.

Extremely hard to justify that price. I was dying for this release, but $100+ is insane.
I knew it would cost more than the usual PA release, but I figured $20-30 more would be the most it would jump up.

Wallet says "you've just started a new job, so will allow you to treat yourself".
i'm with you on founds! i can afford this release; no money issues at the moment! lol .it is just that i refuse to pay that much but then again, but i love this series very much and it would be awesome to get it in steelbook, heart say yes! we will see once we have pix....

I can get planet earth, life and the hunt for half the price of this. Although I do love this I seriously cannot justify this price :(

Absolutely gutted, been looking forward to this release more than anything else I have purchased this year, but the price is just simply too high for me. Looks like I'll have to stick with my existing set that I purchased last year for £10 in the January sales!!

An even bigger bummer is that these would look really great next to each other. I planned to buy both the full slip and lenticular, now THAT would be worth the $120, but I still can't believe they're charging $100+ a pop!

Gonna have to pass. Way to expenisve considering the amaray set can be had for a fraction of the cost. No way am I going to pay an extra $50 for just the steelbook. The steelbook still costs the same to make whether it is a single disc or a 6 disc. Maybe the difference is the insert inside, probably 5 pennies.

Its gonna take them along time to move this one. I bet many months they will be holding it.

Really if the BBC were asking silly money for this then Mirage Entertainment just shouldn't have bothered. They couldn't really have expected people to pay over $100 for this.

Very true. Just found my 6 Disc Amaray with a £10 tag on it. These documentary box sets have been cheap as chips in the UK for a long time.

I do like how Mirage are trying to justify the price. South Korea is one of the richest and most developed nations in the world, and they're acting like their market is so tiny, that the poor dears just have to charge this amount.

Bollocks. It's just good old fashioned price gouging. If everyone involved can make a profit on selling the GoT steelbooks at £22 (GoT being the only close comparison), the profit margin on these must be insane, even with shipping everything from Denmark, and the higher costs of a smaller higher quality run taken into account. And I don't believe for a second that the BBC Worldwide's licensing fees for a documentary are so much higher than what Disney et al charge small Asian firms for their blockbuster films, that it increases the price by this much. Someone's obviously been on ebay and thought that the prices for out of print titles should become standard.

Hopefully these just sit in the warehouse forever.
