Q) What is the purpose of this thread?
A) To discuss Ebay policies/issues

Q) Where can i find the Ebay Presale Policy?
A) Click HERE

Q) Can a HDN Trade mod help me with an Ebay sale/trade issue? Also why is there no 'ebay bad traders' list?
A) Simply put, no. To find out why, ensure you read the following spoiler:
please use this thread as a RESOURCE to ask your fellow members about problems you've had with a reseller or questions about e-bay.

do NOT use this thread to attack or refute other members. if you an e-bay dispute with a member here, perhaps it's best to approach a trading mod before posting? we don't police e-bay, but maybe we can give you a tip or two.

if members ignore these suggestions, then the thread might be locked for a couple of weeks.

thank you.

hey folks,

as a reminder what myself (and other mods) have continued to mention via private message, e-mail and other areas. we do NOT police other trading marketplaces like ebay, youtube, amazon and the rest.

there is ONLY a certain amount of information at our disposal and we do not have the resources in these other locations as we do on this forum - things that we can look at and evaluate.

having said that, there are trading rules on this forum that have been instituted for your own protection for trading transactions that happen HERE.

this includes the pending / active sales threads, the requirement of feedback posted for any new traders, our support ticketing system, the active investigations held by trading moderators and many other things we do not discuss openly.

we have long held that problems occurring on these other forums and marketplaces should be taken the appropriate authorities on THOSE websites.

many of you are established traders here on this forum and you should know all about the guidelines that are stickied in this section - including having new traders send first, getting tracking from the other party and proof of shipment, and what other precautions can be taken to protect your trading safety.

trading via ebay and their messaging system is against their stated policy and should not occur - and there are reasons why they have created that policy. you don't have protection of paypal or their listing system as a buyer or seller.

having said that, if there is trouble with an ebay seller or buyer, you should go to their website and report it there. if you are not aware of this process, follow the below link for more information.

http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/buy/report-trading.html

so folks can feel free to chat about a seller or buyer that they are having problems with, but I can tell you right now - there will not be a "witch hunt" by moderators or staff based on one person's account of the problems or trouble they are having - and we limit the action taken for or against members here to transactions that occurred on this forum.

as stated in the thread title of our bad traders list - that list is for FORUM MEMBERS ONLY.

thank you.
Q) Where can i find the HDN Buyer Beware / Bad Traders list?
A) You can find the thread HERE

I agree that should have come sealed. Open a case with e-bay and start conversing with the seller through that.

Ap, Flip - thanks for your responses. I do have a feeling that something is off and I will open a case - the guy just doesn't seem to want to listen. Cheers.

I would open case with PayPal instead of eBay.

PayPal have option of uploading files and pics to support your claim.

Thought I'll share some pics of the steel I recd (and bear in mind that this was "new"!!)

Irrespective of whether the damage was before or after shipping, if it reached me like this, I can claim a refund from eBay right??

Cheers Flip - wrote to the seller about 5 hours ago and waiting for a response. If I don't hear back from them, to eBay this goes. Crying shame, I love IB!

You don't have to worry about caalina as that person has got their package. Took over a month to arrive. I expect the other person who filed a claim and won to get theirs too, but I bet that person keeps the item and doesn't say anything.

eBay turns into a ripoff more and more...I have 2 buyers right now who claim that they didn't receive their steelbooks, after insisting on unregistered/uninsured postage. Both are steelbook sellers themselves and chances are that they received it and and now try to con me... I've been selling vinyl and CD's on ebay for 14 years, this never happened ONCE, steelbook people seem to be a different breed of people!

Oh yeah, add to that the Korean guy who won 3 steelbooks for a total of $350 over a week ago and doesn't respond to emails...

Not only is it not sealed, it's now horribly damaged too :angry::angry:

Both release are in fact sealed. The regular Steelbook release and the Steelbook inside the IB CE box. I owned both at one time and both were sealed. The one inside the IB box was even in a perfectly fitted foam slot and it was sealed.

No retailer will sell you something opened, he is just trying to get rid of his damage stuff and con unknowing buyers.

I hope you can solve all this mate. I sold the majority of my Steelbooks over the course of the last 6 months and I always told people that I would not ship unless it was via a tracked method, period. Sure I didn't sell a few things as fast as I wanted, but I haven't lost a single package.

I sold my TDK/BB from JP to folks in the UK and I told them I wasn't sending without tracked/registered mail. Sure, it was expensive, but otherwise they would be without the item :p. I rather not lose the item and money than to lose one potential bad customer.

I know Amazon allows you to insure international packages for a nominal fee. Not sure if ebay offers the same, but it's a good way to keep shipping costs down while still protecting yourself.

You can, but you have to claim the actual final value in order to make a claim and get your money back. Someone can correct me if I am wrong.

What good is insurance if the person refuses to even fill out the claim? Thats what friskydingouk did. Please everyone put him on your block list. He is also a member of this forum.

I offered one of the scumbags who allegedly didn't get his steelbook to send him another copy free of charge, he now responds saying that he'd rather have a full refund because he "since arranged to trade for this particular steelbook with a friend of mine". Some people really make me sick to my stomach. Is it allowed to mention his name here? He is from the UK and he himself is selling lots of steelbooks on ebay.co.uk and I'm sure he is a member here as well...

Of course you should mention his/her name, I did. I posted about Olena's deceiving nature via eBay.

I think from a buyers POV if you hand over your hard earned cash and have no steelbook to show for it, when the 30 days is coming up soon file a claim before it's too late! Some experienced members of eBay don't realise with the volume of packages they send domestically and internationally one or two are likely to go missing.

Totally agree Lutzo, if the seller tried to make up for it and send a replacement free of charge, they are clearly scumbags. If a seller has a few copies of the SB anyway what have they got to loose? Never actually had a claim against me when i've been selling (touch wood) but doesn't eBay/ PayPal cover the costs in either case? :ohno:

I had a guy almost wait 2 months for a rare and expensive Steelbook. It also got sent during December, a very busy month. I am glad at least there are honest and patient buyers, though few.

I never scammed someone out of a Steelbook and I don't plan to. I don't bother selling Steelbooks on eBay, way too many greedy mofos.
