There isn't all too much info at this point but I figured with so many Drive fans floating around in here, people would be interested to hear a scant few details and check out the first poster (or concept?) image for Nicolas Winding Refn's all-female horror flick.

Credit goes to http://twitchfilm.com/ for the info:

GAUMONT & WILD BUNCH encounter THE NEON DEMON...

After Only God Forgives (in competition at Cannes Film Festival 2013), Gaumont and Wild Bunch team up again to co-finance and co-distribute the next film by Nicolas Winding Refn.

The Neon Demon reveals a horror tale with a young female driven cast, written by NWR and Mary Laws.

About the origin of the movie, Refn said, "One morning I woke and realized I was both surrounded and dominated by women. Strangely, a sudden urge was planted in me to make a horror film about vicious beauty. After making DRIVE and falling madly in love with the electricity of Los Angeles, I knew I had to return to tell the story of THE NEON DEMON."

Refn's partner, Lene Borglum (Valhalla Rising, Only God Forgives) will be producing under their joint company, Space Rocket.

Principal photography is set to begin in the first quarter of 2015 and will be filmed in Los Angeles, CA. The cast will be announced later this year. Refn's regular collaborators, editor Matthew Newman (Bronson, Drive, Only God Forgives) and composter Cliff Martinez (Drive, Only God Forgives) will be joined by director of photography, Philippe Le Sourd (The Grand Master) on the production of NWR's film.

Gaumont and Wild Bunch will be selling the movie at the upcoming AFM for a 2016 release.

"I'm very excited to continue my wonderful relationship with Wild Bunch and Gaumont on my next film, THE NEON DEMON. This movie is a manifestation of the strong ties between us and will lead to many more adventures," said Nicolas Winding Refn.

-------

I just hope this one will get NWR back on track after Only God Forgives. :emb:

Nicholas Winding Refn seems to be becoming Ridley Scott in reverse.
He started in the business making movies, and he is slowly becoming a director of long form commercials.
Neon Demon looks like it is going to be a 2 hour ad for L'Oréal.

Funny you should say that, because he's directed a perfume ad before...

And then there's these Neon Demon ads for makeup...

Hopefully we won't be disappointed. :ohno:
It looks like classic NWR from the clips so hopefully not! I watched Only God Forgives again a little while ago and thought it was great. It was slow but the visuals and music were fantastic! This looks like it could be similar. :)

Yeah, I don't know what I'm worried about... I'm sure he'll deliver something amazing as usual. :)

OGF is great! I actually convinced a friend to rewatch it recently (he hated it originally), and he enjoyed it a lot more the second time around. It's Drive's 5th anniversary soon, so at least that gives me another excuse to rewatch it for the zillionth time. :p

Haha! Yeah Drive is definatly his best film. One of the best films of the year, that's the one that started my interest in NWR. Then I went back and watched Fear X and Valhalla Rising!:)

Valhalla Rising was the first film of his I ever saw, then Bronson... although I didn't even realise both were by the same director at the time lol.

Same here though dude... it wasn't until I saw Drive that I properly started taking notice of NWR. Drive is both my favourite film and soundtrack... I genuinely think everything about it is perfect.

I still need to check out Fear X and Bleeder... I also want to rewatch the Pusher trilogy at some point, since it's been a while since I first saw them and can't really remember much. Have you seen the Pusher trilogy mate?

I read about this in Total Film interesting concept. I do like Elle Fanning
Elle is wonderful! She has the most contagious smile.

I agree mate, Drive is a masterpiece!:) I haven't seen the Pusher Trilogy, the camera work is all handheld isn't it? I can be a but queasy with too much shaky cam so I haven't seen it yet! Fear X was decent, not a patch on his other films but a decent thriller.

Honestly mate... it's been so long since I saw them that I can't quite remember. I do recall that they looked quite "amateurish" in a way though. The main reason I'm yet to see Fear X is because I've been holding off on a UK blu for it (same goes for Bleeder) - I was hoping his previous films would be restored now that his career has taken off. I'll probably just pick up the German blu-ray though, or possibly settle for the DVD.

I just saw the trailer and thought it looked quite heavy. I might have to check them out sometime! I ended up buying the German Blu-ray for Fear X, the picture is decent but nothing special. It would be nicer if it got a release in the UK with a remastered picture.:)

Probably best you avoid them then if the trailer didn't convince you mate. You wouldn't be missing much to be fair... they're certainly not his best films IMO.

I may have just ordered Fear X on blu-ray from Amazon :p. As long as the quality is better than the DVD, then I'll be happy with it. :)

The soundtrack for this film was ******* awesome. Not sure about the story...if NWR would just partner with the right screenwriter, he could be knocking out hit after hit. This story was just basic, not a lot of depth. As just an audio-visual experience though, this was pretty good. I know what music I'll be streaming next week at work.

Thanks mate, the trailers didn't make them look great. It seemed like they were a low budget kind of movies. I will probably pass on them if they aren't as good as his newer movies. The picture on Fear X is definatly better than the DVD mate, let me know that you think of it!:)

I really like the Pusher Trilogy but I watched them first when I was a teen. So I got a lot of memories connected to the movies. We was big fans of actor Kim Bodnia and most of his movies like "In China they eat Dogs" or "Bleeder". I got an awesome DVD Collectors Edition of the Pusher Trilogy with Soundtrack CD, cooking receipts and everything

Looks like you are a big fan @dan8885! That's a nice set!:) I would try them but the trailer looks like there's a lot of handheld footage in there. I'm not a fan of shaky cam so try to avoid it when possible!
