So, we have the "Fake" and "Steelbook Price Drop" thread, but we don't yet have the thread where you post listings with "crazy" prices for Steelbooks. If you see any, post them here and have fun debating. As per forum rules, please remain respectful with each other-one person's "high price", could be another's "deal of a lifetime" score. Enjoy! :scat:

Please keep discussion to Ebay and other retailers, not private sellers.

He should tell people that it is a customized steelbook, that would be fair.

He put the lenticular carboard from the french slipcover on a dutch steelbook. It's not an official release.

but he does have the only Sweeny Todd with Play.com Booklet *SEALED* that Ive ever seen.

Ol' Crash back in his OCD days woulda been all over that. Olena has an open version much cheaper. Tho I dont know why anyone would spend that much on this movie, not the greatest Depp movie IMO. (or musical for that matter ;p)

As long as you make a payment by goods, and not by paypal gift, you would have paypal protection.

However, you do NOT have e-bay's protection, which has no conditions about having funds in the account, or things of that sort. E-bay will protect you 100%. Paypal will not.

This has been discussed recently. Just don't do it (especially if he asks for a private payment)! :ugh:

Dantom-any circumvention of the regular paypal payment and or/procedure on Ebay is never a good idea. If a seller asks you to do this, stay FAR away.

honestly, not surprised by that ebayers ridiculous prices. people on ebay seem to think if its a steelbook its worth thousands. that sweeney todd price made me laugh, he's selling it sealed for £199 haha. i bought a mint condition one for £4 all though not sealed of course.

as for how much i spend , it can depend. the most i've payed is £50, though that was more to do with the postage i guess. i tend to be very good at picking up things cheap. so you'd never see me paying £100s for a single steelbook, cause i know i will be able to get a decent price. its all about patience

That not true about seller ive bought from sellers away from ebay many times i just ask the seller to send with tracking.

Karl-thanks for your comment. Excellent!

I am not referring to items purchased on forums, etc. I am actually referring to items that were listed on Ebay, but then a seller asked you to pay outside of the system, or asked you not to complete checkout, etc, send a personal payment, etc. I've bought and sold for 15 years.

Surely, it's possible to have successful transactions this way, but the issue is, if something goes wrong, you have no backing from Ebay or Paypal, regarding items that were originally listed on a third party market place, such as Ebay, but sold outside of the system. Ebay and Paypal will only protect you if certain conditions are met. If a seller asks you to circumvent that, there is often (not always) a reason that's not kosher.

anybody see the listing for the comic con steel of Sucker Punch for 499.00. I think it a shame to sell an item like that extremely rare, like 900 copies.
