Right, can't find an eBay moan thread so here i must vent.
I am sick of eBay sellers listing steels and NOT mentioning dings, dents or other issues.
It's happened three times now.
First up was Paul. I got that cheap, shoulda known really - I guess that was a case of me wanting the steel more than the movie so I let it slide. I figured, it's a placeholder until I can get a mint sealed one.
That was over 6 months back and all was going well. Then I got Gladiator UK version, with the helmet cover and artcards. Amazing steel, cards and discs immaculate, but what's this I see? A small pea size ding in the back, where the text is. More of a pen prick I guess, and guess what - not mentioned. Life being busy - I let it go.
This morning I got my Play.com Pulp Fiction, packed by someone who clearly knows their steel books as it was secure, using a mix of play.com box and Zavvi foam. Lovely steel and at a BIN of £19.95, with free postage, well.... if something seems too good to be true, it often is. There's a dent on the rear case, upper next to the spine. Not severe, but noticeable and annoying. Mentioned in the listing? No way.
The default eBay term used for the condition is Very Good. eBay describe that as;
Very Good: An item that has been used, but is in very good condition. No damage to the jewel case or item cover, no scuffs, scratches, cracks, or holes. The cover art and liner notes are included. The VHS or DVD box is included. The video game instructions and box are included. The teeth of the disk holder (in the DVD box) is undamaged. Minimal wear on the exterior of item. No skipping on the CD or DVD, when played. No fuzzy or snowy frames on VHS tape, when played. See the seller’s listing for full details and description of any imperfections.
I class damage to the case as just that - not minimal wear to the exterior of the item.
Anyway, I got it for a fair price given the damage - I've emailed the seller and am not asking him/her to refund or any form of recompense - merely to please for the love of all that is steely and holy - PUT THE ITEM CONDITION TRUTHFULLY IN THE F@&KING LISTING. At the least let the buyer have the chance to choose.
Will post if I get a reply.
