Thanks for the tag @Apollon Fantastic news! This will go very nicely with PA's "A Most Wanted Man".

I've been an admirer of the works of John le Carre, on both page and screen, since I was a boy. Not to everyone's taste, I know, but I'd rather have a slow burning, intelligent and well acted spy drama from John le Carre anyday, over the more fanciful works of Ian Fleming and Robert Ludlum, good though they both are. Chacun a son gout.

Now, if only PA could see their way to doing a special edition of "The Spy Who Came in from the Cold" (1965), the greatest of the le Carre screen adaptations, then I will be in seventh heaven.

I must admit though, and I know people may be getting irritated at hearing this, but I really don't know how I feel about the artwork by Jonathan Burton that's been used for the steel itself. I think his style really works for The Act of Killing slip that Plain have shown off, but here I just don't think it suits the theme of Tinker Tailor at all. It's just in my honest opinion however and it would be cool to know what others here think of it. I know krzysztof domaradzki produced the illustrations that we have seen on the slip designs so I wonder why he wasn't chosen to do the steelbook? It could grow on me and I'm really hoping it does, I do love that debosssed title, but I think I'll have to see some more pictures to make up my mind on this one.

Personally, I can't stand Burton's covers--each release that uses his art is a release I don't buy.

That said, I actually think this cover is pretty decent and might be the first package with Burton art that I buy--but not if they mix his artwork with a different artist (even if I love the other artist's work). I find it very disappointing when PA uses two different artists in the same package, especially when their styles clash with one another--it destroys visual continuity for me. If they're going to go with actual painted or drawn artwork on a release, I wish they'd commit to a single artist per package. Even if it's Jonathan Burton.

@anae31 I really love that slip design, and I think Plain are possibly going down the route that they have taken with all their steelbooks so far apart from I Saw the Devil, where they release both a steelbook and a keepcase edition. This is the other planned cover which I love just ever so slightly more, but I guess we'll have to wait and see which edition gets which cover. Either way, this will be one of only a handful of times where I am definitely going to double dip!

I'm hoping they use that art for the booklet.

@Noodles Again I'm going from the assumption that there could be a steelbook and an amaray edition, but I think this is the artwork for the booklet which P.A posted a couple of months ago. There is a mock up of a spine that has the same kind of Khaki brown tone as the second Domaradzki illustration which I posted, so I'm guessing they are for a full slip design?

Yep, it's looking very likely that there will be both. I've been keeping up-to-date more or less, but with so many "updates" on TTSS spread out over the months I easily forget stuff lol. Thanks for refreshing my memory! :)

Is this movie really so boring? Haven't watched it yet but from the great cast and reviews I supposed it should be a very good flick. I'll definitely give it a chance soon and try to elaborate my opinion, so that I can come back here with my take and share that with you :)

I wouldn't say boring but it is slow. I also found it fairly difficult to follow but I have only watched it once. I need to give it another watch.

Steel looks good! Hopefully the slip will use similar style art. I really need to rewatch this film... it literally bored me to sleep the first time. :sleep:

Now, that is what I call a steelbook. Easily a contender for Steelbook of the Year.
Too bad, I might not be buying this. Gotta watch it again, don't remember much.

@Bluprint Where you at bruh?
