It was expected what happened with this film .Between that is not a very commercial film and that print run ...
Even the one click has been sold out, incredible for Plain Archive

It has been a while since my last PA title and I'm back with this (Full Slip A)! I'm glad PA released such a beautiful edition for this movie, couldn't miss it.

Hopefully I got a low number as well (not that it matters for me that much but it's always nice if it happens).

Smart movie but pace too slow. I don't see myself watching it again.

Some people are easily pleased!

This is very VERY dumbed down film which accordingly bears little to no resemblance whatsoever to the source material - which is indeed "smart" .

Sadly, the only 'smart' thing to do with this film is to avoid it like the plague!

PA surprise me releasing this trash when there are so very many great, often unsung films out there.

p.s If you want to see "smart" then watch the BBC Tv series which is faithful to the source, and thus credible, cogent and intelligent.

I admit a blind buy fantastic cast thats the main reason I jumped at the original relise .

Well the gifs on this page and the meaning behind them overt head and frankly no idea what it has to do with the relise . Thats just me though .

Back on topic not gonna be crying in my Breakfast cerial I missed this , as Great as PA attention to detail and craft involved in thire editions .

Want to and CAN NOT WAIT to see some in hand photos gang that would be great fully drooled over :) .

With all due respect for your opinion I nevertheless rate your post(n).

Hehe - it's all subjective in the end. I wouldn't force you to dislike it. But after you've read the book, and seen the original production it still pales into insignificance.

Perhaps you have and still find it accceptable - that's fine with me; even if I don't understand it.

Frankly two performances which are central are fatally flawed: Oldman couldn't be George Smiley if he lived to be 250. If you have seen Alec Gunness' performance, and know that he was as Le Carre put it The real George Smiley, then you begin to see where I'm going . .

Tom Hardy at Rikki Tarr doesn't have the gravitas, or sheer bravado of Hywel Bennett. Watch the two back to back - you can't fail to see how superior Bennett's performance is.

Plus one character has been mangled out of all recognition for no good reason: Peter Guiillam is most definitley NOT gay!!
He is a raging heterosexual who's having a slow motion breakdown and trusts no-one apart from Smiley; not even his girlfriend, who he is utterly obessed with - but whom he believes may be working for the opposition; or has been planted by his department to keep an eye on him.
Making him homosexual simply ruins his place in the whole plot, and buggers up his character - no pun intended.

Most of the other central characters are played by lightweigh actors who lack the presence and sheer acting ability of the assembled throng for the BBC production.

Of course condensing a novel of such complexity (lack of which resulted in a 5 hour BBC production),, is always goingto be very difficult, and much of the backstory is inevitably going to be lost.
Sadly, messing with the characterization, and the lack of great acting talent across the board will inevitably leave one longing for the real thing.

p.s I love the artwork on the Fullslip type C, and the steel is very good too.

Happy to secure a type C. Worried this may have been OOS before payday but no such worries. Just love the art for all 3 but had to compromise and just get the one. For now...

what ! I would apply that on half of the movies on this forum. (not forums fault, but at least partly Hollywoods which makes sure movies are simple, easy to understand, and won't cause a hassle) but on this film. wow !

again wow !

I gather you are another who hasn't read the book, or seen the original, faithful, and entirely superior original BBC production.

If you had, I very much doubt you would say 'wow'; more 'Merde Alors!' with respect to this film.

It may not be quite the total loss I often feel it is; but it is very, very far from a masterpiece.

I would also refer you to post #396

no I have not read it. but as we post I'm ordering it from Finnish web auction, along with the spy who came in from the cold. meaning to read these for a long time. soon will, as they arrive.

but still feel you've been a bit harsh. this film is excellent, and more so to compared other modern day crap like angry birds, mocking birds, london has fallen, ninja turtles ... etc that can be found on box office lists.
