Ordered the LOTR trilogy and The Hangover today. Thought about doing an in-store pickup but the closest BB is 45 minutes away and could have them all shipped for what it would cost in gas to get there and back.

Now I have to get some good images together to make some inner artwork for each case.

Slimy, time to perform a little surgery to add interior artwork to these. There's a whole thread on this.

Personally, I will be buying all of these, regardless if they have artwork or not. I agree with DigitalBabe that we should purchase these SB's out to send a message to Best Buy that we want AND deserve SB's. If I don't like the bland artwork inside, I'll replace it using the forum that's been established, provided I open them at all. I seriously doubt I will as I already have BR versions of them. Having said that, it's a great day for those of us who receive regular shipments from overseas and have wished for local releases!

Best Buy had these waiting for me today...

The greeter/security guy at the door said that after I had asked about them yesterday, they did a little digging and found that they were supposed to be put on the shelves this past Tuesday, but the stock people didn't put them out for some reason. He than told me that they were sorry about not having them available for me yesterday.

LOL my local BB had them all available for in-store pick-up yesterday.

I swung by and one of the blue shirts told me they pulled them off until next week and now online you can only pre-order. Boo!

Ironically, it's "pre-order for pick up on 5/22" so if I did in-store pick-up with the pre-order I could probably get them to give it to me earlier.

Whatever. I am just glad they are churning these out and will get them next week.

Awesome news DB! Congratulations! I seriously suspect the stores are trying to figure out how to put them out without incurring damage from browsing customers mucking with those wire shelves.

Best Buy is slowly coming around though. I placed a "Ninja" order half an order ago for in store pick-up, got the order confirmation email and one minute later, got the pick-up date change email (from 5/22 to 5/25) and then about 10 minutes later, another email to say the items are ready for pick up now. Wow!!!

To those still waiting to experience this for themselves, keep the faith and know that you are part of the "new wave" of change for US steelbook collectors. Keep engaging the folks in your local/favorite BB stores, ask if the store is safe from the planned store closings, ask if they have heard anything about these steelbooks, and also ask about new releases. No matter how bad the stories about Best Buy get, we need to do what we can to keep them around so we in the US will have a place to walk into to browse and select steelbooks with our own hands

Hey Ash, haha-yes, definitely the wire shelves are not a home for these precious additions (I too have lost my mind, TGIF) I received exactly the same communications regarding pick ups.

For anyone still hunting around for Ghost Rider or Underworld, there were more copies put out at the store I went to. Don't want to derail this LOTR thread, but if you're near one, double check as they put more out as they go along....

Must say I'm loving this wave and I'm happy for the US members that theyre finally getting theyre own (kind of) SB waves you know how us UK members felt when play stepped up

From reading the other threads it seems lack of the inside artwork is going to bring a whole new group of modifiers too which can only be a good thing that thread always disappears to quick, welcome in advance can't wait to see what people come up with of course I'll be doing my own when I get them

The ineptitude at my Best Buy is beyond amazing. Went in to see if I could get Sucker Punch, Book of Eli and Shawshank Redemption. The lady at customer service told me the sku had been deleted and that they weren't getting any. I had my phone up with Best Buy on it and I was like look it tells me I can pick it up in store today and its available and she was like well we are not getting any. So I went to lunch and came back and found someone to go look in the back for me and said he couldn't find any in the back and that another company stocks their movies for them. But I can order it to be shipped from customer service. So I went and got somebody at customer service to order them for me to be shipped to my house (I know I could have done this from my phone or home or work but I had some reward zone coupons I wanted to use) and she said they were in transit.

So three different customer service reps and three different stories and not one of them with a clue.

Oh well I got 3 of them ordered and being shipped to me (why on earth would anyone buy these on ebay when you can just order them directly from Best Buy no middle man).

I would love to see some in stores and there is still another 5-6 titles I want to pick up (Sherlock Holmes and probably both Batmans for sure and maybe the LOTR's although I already have two editions of it the theatricals and extended's maybe the Hangovers as they look so cool maybe Clash of the Titans) but seriously this is as bad as Ghost Rider was with a different story everytime I talk to someone and I never saw a Ghost Rider in my store.

Sir, unfortunately BB doesn't ship outside of the US, so people are forced to go to Ebay, if they can't find a friend to help them. Yes, BB seems very disjointed with these types of promos. I can only hope it gets better in the future...
