You have to buy it with the dancing groot, for a reasonable reduction. Go back a few pages and see how you can get the price down.
Thanks for the info mate but I've got Futureshop one pre ordered and the Nova media edition to so I'll stick with them... [emoji41]

It's not much of a reduction, you are paying the price it was originally £25 and then you HAVE to buy groot for only £1 less than buying it separately?

My poor choice of words and meant in relation to the £50 confusion. It's just less of a bitter pill to swallow than £50 or eBay prices.

It seems Guardians of the Galaxy has been promoted like this to deter bulk buys, that would be sold on at double the cost no doubt. So should ensure more collectors get a copy at a reasonable price, and like someone said, you might be able to cancel the dancing groot once you receive the steel. So in effect get the steel for £24.99 happy days. Could become a more common tactic with future popular releases.

Hope not. It just means things will sell out faster with the same people ordering multiples on initial pre-order so they don't have to pay when it eventually comes back at a bumped up price. Kinda tough if your not able to grab one on live day.

haha i think you are giving zavvi too much credit. i think it is pure exploitation on zavvi's part, forcing collectors to shell out more when they only really want the steelbook.

it was also blatantly planned to be this way, i mean, people did wonder why zavvi were taking so long to put up the rest of the unsold GOTG steels. now we know they were hoarding them for this 'sale' where they could 'get away' with the audacity of practically doubling the price by packaging it with another product nobody really wants.

Zavvi can charge whatever they like for their products so anyone who doesn't like the price is welcome to find something else to spend their money on instead.

They had this originally listed as £24.99 not £49.99

Release date was only Monday November 24th

Its still only £24.99 but only if you purchase with another product
That's a false offer as you not getting a reduction

Sale price law is in effect with this release its less than 30 days since release date
So its not giving you a reduction if your purchase it alone its nearly double the price

They also have been telling customers it was out of stock
Customers received damaged as in faulty product from zavvi
Sale of goods Act a replacement or refund or repair must be offered with customer choosing which method they want

Telling customers its sold out when stock is still available for replacement is not just a disgrace but a serious breach of trading standards

snoo simple question do you not consider it bad practice/poor customer service to sort out peoples damaged steels first from that stock or do you consider the steels left should go out with another product in this case a model groot which they obviously having trouble shifting?

this isn't about catching anyone out its about being fair and reasonable to those that already bought, i really would like you thoughts on this.

Got to feel for those who missed this, it's not even sold out and those insisting eBay auctions are the reason for this price increase comes across as very unprofessional on Zavvi's part. They're scraping the bottom of the barrel and I wouldn't mind if the extra dosh they're making went towards better customer service or whatnot, but this year with the removal of the Rewardz points and cardboard envelope fiasco they've really pushed customers to the limit.

Zavvi can charge £100 for it if they like, but does that make it right? Just because they can doesn't mean they should is all I'm saying.

Thor is now live and....

Ninjas, You can get Horns, The Imitation Game, Dracula untold along with Planet Hulk, Doctor Strange, Hulk Vs and thor secret steelbooks with the BIGSPENDERZ CODE which works alongside the 10% off first 3 steelbooks. If you do it with 6 of them They all work out at £16.32 each and making Dracula untold £17.99 if you have that in your basket too. It's better to use this code with 6 of the 7 steelbooks to save more money individually.

Have to agree that saying customers that they can't replace the damaged copies is criminal.

If this happened to me, I will report to Trading Standards.

What you should do is write to your MP who will be duty bound to investigate on your behalf ,it will ensure they at least provide an explanation and are held accountable. It's a poor show to say they've no replacements for damaged copies and then resell them at a higher price . Screenshot the evidence and send it in .

I am not an expert on consumer law so I won't argue against any points you have made. I am simply realistic and know what to expect from certain companies. I find it annoying that people constantly whine about Zavvi (and other retailers) rather than taking action and getting results.

I think there are different arguments going on here. I agree that they should replace any damaged copies before selling any spares but many aren't complaining about that. They are complaining about having to pay a higher price or buy something they don't really want.
