I'm fairly new to this hobby. Does Scanavo have a monopoly on steelbook production??

Yes, they own the steelbook name and just as importantly the design, no one can make steel packaging like theirs.

There are other types of metal blu-ray/DVD cases around like FuturePak for example but they are a different design

They did say...

Payment is only required on RELEASE WEEK

I requested a refund and I'm glad I did. I'll happily pay for this, on release week as agreed.

Unless funds are really that tight, isn't it a bit silly to get a full refund only to pay for it again? I mean, if you have every intention on buying said product, surely it would be less hassle just to leave it as is safe in the knowledge you've already paid (don't mean to disrespect as I'm sure you have your reasons, but it's just the way I see it..)

I shall be keeping my copy as this will be an amazing steelbook, disappointed in the delay but not much that can be done.
I must admit I find it strange all the issues that seam to be happening with Asian releases that everyone seams pretty relaxed about them. I'm not sure how people would feel if this was Zavvi.................. go

Think it's partly to do with the fact that (to my knowledge) there's not been a single dud release from BluFans, KimichiDVD, Plain Archive et al..Despite the delays, they always put the utmost care into making sure the products they release to the public is of the best quality possible- there's a sense of pride in this regard that we seldom see anywhere else. Think the moment an Asian steel is announced the consumer knows they'll be getting a stellar product.

Well as a collector that opens his steelbooks I can honestly say a bigger percentage of steelbooks I have had from the above mentioned and one in particular are damaged over steelbooks from Zavvi.

I don't believe they take more care with them than Zavvi, I would say the packages are nicer overall (slip covers. Booklets cards etc) but more of these are defective.
I am confident in saying a lot of these are damaged based on feedback I read on here on various threads and a massive amount of these never get opened so a lot of collectors will never see the damage.

Refund on tripack requested. Simply not acceptable. I feel sorry for these guys at HDzeta, but it's becoming a trend having steelbook releases prefinanced, providing non compliant artwork, factory sealing issues etc etc. And now some members of this forum started to blame Scanavo ... Isn't Scanavo the Creator of the metal case we all seem to embrace?

See; I wouldn't really know too much about that- The only Asian releases I have to date are the KimichDVD full slip Dallas Buyers Club sb and BluFans Frozen releases, both of which were perfect..
Think just through browsing some of the threads I haven't noticed of many people having faulty of defect Asian steels, but again your personal experience will obviously alter the way you see it.

For me it's the principle. I don't find it any hassle at all to request a refund and pay when they actually have a steelbook to ship. And it doesn't cost anyone to refund a payment. If you don't mind paying and waiting, with two delays so far, good for you. I do mind (when that wasn't the agreement). Roll on February, lets see if HDZeta receive a steelbook they can sell.
